Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: From years of working with clients I found that even the best fitness evaluations and strength, cardio and weight management programs aren’t always enough. While it does a lot to boost self-esteem, self-confidence and self-discipline we often find it difficult to maintain space and time for our overall health and wellness. The problem usually us that life gets in the way. My own experience as a personal trainer, regardless of how great my programming was, taught me that my efforts had zero value if my clients had adherence issues. I have found that many that I’ve helped over the years followed a plan for a while and then went back to their old self-sabotaging ways. There was never enough time in our sessions to address all the lifestyle issues that tended to push fitness to the back burner. With extensive knowledge in the art and science of human movement, nutrition, exercise and bodywork, I work to assist my clients in finding new ways to inspire healthier habits promoting wellness and helping individuals realize their personal best and adoption of those habits that are conducive to a higher quality of life. As your coach I have ability to perform massage for wellness and sports*, the testing skills to assess your state of fitness, and the knowledge and practical experience to recommend and implement a safe fitness, nutritional, weight management and wellness program in a variety of settings. I will work with you individually to develop customized care plan for program participants including goals and plan of action that we can use to coordinate care with other health-related vendors for optimal patient care. Or for your family, organization or groups I also develop and conduct onsite health-related wellness seminars and training courses for interested employees and family members My goal is to develop a wellness coaching relationship with my clients and assist my clients through the process of actively working towards better health by providing support, encouragement, solutions for managing time, creating healthy boundaries, defining needs and goals, learning accountability, making commitments, delaying gratification and identifying obstacles and solutions and education.

I first started training with Ed about a year ago. My initial goal was to lose weight. Within the first 2 months, he helped me lose 10 lbs with a training program based around cardio and body-weight training. After several months, my goal changed from weight-loss to increasing my strength. Ed listened to my goals and altered my workout plans accordingly. He planned workouts involving a lot of weights and interval training... two things I had never done before. He made me feel extremely comfortable... even though I started out weak, he never made me feel like a wimp for only being able to bench-press the bar or for lifting 5 lb dumbbells. I still train with him today because he is a truly great trainer. I am the type of person who gets bored doing the same exercise routines over and over... Ed makes sure he mixes my workouts up with different weight exercises and different forms of cardio so I'm always engaged in the workouts. I highly recommend Ed as a trainer... you will see RESULTS and you will get your money's worth.

Ed not just a trainer. He's a friend and a cheerleader. No two workouts are alike so you learn many ways to get your heart rate up. I now have a ton of options to use on my own time. That's a great thing for someone like me who bores easily. I Sometimes it was challenging to keep going and stay focused but some days, just getting that text to say hi or "stay in the game" was what was the difference between derailing and the motivation to move forward. I've been working with him since October and down 15lbs and 2 dress sizes. I still have a long way to go but I can run 2 miles, my endurance is amazing and I see muscle tone. I'm going to stick it out with Ed. I have the pleasure of meeting a few of his other clients and the vibe is just great and happy with everyone. Before hiring I had some concerns about his previous reviews, I felt it important for me to say that Ed is a stand up guy and very professional. I have experienced nothing but kindness and flexibility to meet my changing schedule and changing times, locations even on the spur of the moment he has adjusted to my scheduling and location needs. I only pay for sessions by the week and no more than one weeks at a time. I will say he also took the time to carefully review our terms, sessions and payment schedules ahead of time to avoid miscommunication. I think that is a bonus because it shows not only is he a teacher himself but learns himself and is constantly working to improve not only his business, but the service he delivers. This is also reflective in his training always bringing something new to each session and new knowledge.

I have always been skeptical about personal trainers and never understood the need. But I took a chance I started working with Ed a few months ago and it has been amazing. He did a great job of trying to figure out my personal goals for working out and customizing a training plan to meet those goals. I was in pretty good shape before I started personal training, but I wanted that extra push to go beyond where I thought I could get myself. Ed was very clear about expectations from the beginning. One of the main differences between working with a trainer and just going to the gym is having someone there to push you (safely) past where you think you can go. Also, its great to have someone there who is not only spotting me when I use weights, but also watching my form to make sure I am getting the most impact from the exercises and not doing anything that might injure me. I like Ed in that he is a great motivator. Will stay in constant contact and answers questions all the time. He doesn't spend his time trying to sell you on anything, he is so motivated about fitness. I have worked out of several locations. The main location is in the apartment building in Rockville Town Center, above the Starbucks. The apartment copmlex seems very safe and secure. The lighting leaves a bit to be desired in the evenings as it is a little dim, but is spacious. Ed brings water, clean towels and often his own equipement. I love the location too because I can take Metro about a 5 minute walk away when I don't feel like driving. The apartment complex has 2 other gyms that are near by that we have used at times too all with slightly different equipment. We also do our sessions sometimes at the Golds Gym on Randolph road which has been fun. It has been great to have the flexibility to be in the crowd but to work out solo at times too. Most fun was the outdoor workouts at Richard Montgomery HS. What makes working out with Ed fun is the variety not just of locations but workouts. This has really taught me that I can workout anywhere, in a hotel gym, my home, outside. I highly recommend him.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing is set on my standard hourly rate and adjusted from there depending on the program, sessions and service you are receiving.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been coaching and training athletes and individuals for nearly 18 years.I am a Certified Personal Trainer as well as a Nutrition Specialist through N.A.S.M with a degree in Human Physiology. I am a former Division I college athlete, and now currently a running coach, track & field coach, basketball & certified amateur basketball coach.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Once you receive a few bids from perspective trainers, I would encourage you to take as many of the free consultations as possible to really compare trainers. If they don't already offer one, ask for a free workout. Schedule at least 3 in a week, so 1. you get a full weeks of workouts and 2. you get to directly compare trainers. Then choose the trainer who really understands your goals and your vision.
