Introduction: My name is Valencia Jackson and I am a Licensed Cosmetologist and Esthetician, and a Certified Notary Signing Agent.
I started in the beauty industry more than 10 years ago by opening Pinky’s Brow & Lash Boutique with inspiration from my mother’s journey to cancer recovery. During her healing process, the chemotherapy caused hair loss on her head, and her eyelashes and eyebrows became sparse. My mother’s experience with cancer influenced me to become an entrepreneur and learn all I could about eyebrow and eyelash extensions. She was my first client and within a short amount of time, I had a wide range of clientele. Over the years, my business services have expanded to include waxing, hairstyling, and makeup application.
By 2016, I noticed that several of my clients were seeking notary services, an industry that always intrigued me so I investigated further. This was another opportunity to do what I love, help others, so, my brand soon included Notary services.
On August 18, 2018, I was burned in a house fire and experienced second- and third-degree burns on my face and upper body. I spent nearly a month at The Burn Center at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., but the doctors and nurses took such good care of me that I wanted to give back. Since mid-October 2018, I have been applying makeup to burn patients at The Burn Center. As my wounds continue to heal, it is so rewarding to see burn patients smile after our makeup sessions.
I have special people in my life who have stayed by my side and lifted me up when needed. I want to pay it forward. I am proud of my newest endeavor, a program to bring awareness and preventive tools against domestic violence: I Am Valencia J. Fire and Ice Domestic Violence Summit. Our first summit is scheduled for later this year.
When the pandemic began, many industries were seeking mobile services to accommodate individuals who were more comfortable conducting business from home. I seized the moment, studied from home and earned my certification as a Notary Signing Agent. This distinction authorizes me to handle and notarize real estate loan documents within the state of Maryland. With extensive experience as a mobile professional, I am always punctual, and take tremendous care ensuring documents are notarized properly and accurately.
