Bonnie J. says, "Walter is a fantastic person to work with. He is enthusiastic, responsive, reliable, responsible, and a great communicator. He helped me out in multiple situations, and I would highly recommend him.
I found Walter when I used Thumbtack to look for someone to do junk removal. I reached out to three companies, and Walter was extremely responsive. The first time I hired him (yes, I hired him more than just one time!) was the afternoon following the completion of an estate sale. There were a few very heavy pieces, namely sofa beds in the basement, and some dingy furniture and bedding that I knew would not be taken by charity shops and which I would not be able to sell myself on Marketplace. He brought along another man, and they wrestled these bulky items out of the basement and took them away for me that same day to the dump.
A little over a week later, I hired Walter again. I had a lot of medium to large furniture items that I now wanted to donate to Goodwill. Goodwill doesn't do pickups, but would accept many of my items. I had contacted other charity groups, but they were not able to schedule pick-ups of the furniture until 3-5 weeks later, but I needed to get the house emptied sooner. Walter had told me that he would be available whenever I needed. I had to get the house emptied out for cleaning and listing on the market, so I called him again to help me move all of the items I couldn't move in my SUV. Other junk removal companies typically work on a small scale - putting items in the back of a pickup truck or on a trailer. Walter actually has a large box truck. Because I had a lot of items and many of these items were nicer quality, I didn't want any damage to them before donating. His enclosed truck was a fantastic option for me to keep them out of the weather. Walter and his worker spent several hours moving the large items out of the house. They also helped move a few items up from the basement for which I had a buyer. After loading up their truck, they followed me across town to Goodwill for the drop-off; he then took the items that were not accepted to the dump. He was upfront with costs and let me know the next day what his dump fees and gasoline costs were, so I could pay him those directly as well as his labor costs.
While Walter was moving furniture out of the house, he made some observations about work that needed to be done to clean up the landscaping and offered to do the work himself. Normally, I wouldn't consider hiring a junk removal company for landscape and yard work, but Walter clearly knew what he was talking about - each thing he pointed out was something I had noted as needing done! I needed some of the over-grown beds thinned out, trees cut away from the house, vines pulled off the house, shrubs trimmed and shaped, weeds pulled, vines cut off fences, and mulch put out. While I had intended to do most of this work myself, I had to leave town and ran out of time. So, I called Walter. He went to the house and did a video call with me to review each of the areas in the yard needing work. After doing all of the work, the following day - without my even requesting this - he returned and filmed a video showing the results of all of their efforts the prior afternoon and texted it to me. It's very rare to find someone who can manage a whole project like this without any supervision. Likewise, it was wonderful that he knew that I was anxious about the results since I wasn't still in town and found a way to get me that reassurance by his video.
As I mentioned at the start, Walter is very enjoyable to work with, and I would highly recommend him."See more
