I used thumbtack to find a local contractor for the replacement of my driveway. I met with several contractors and Mauricio Stone gave me the best price per sq ft. He met with me to go over the scope of work that i requested. I was pleased with the entire job from start to finish.

Henry showed up as scheduled at my residence for initial quote and was willing to work with me on the pricing. His crew arrived the next week as scheduled and completed the work in a timely manner. If you live in a neighborhood, I would recommend talking with your neighbors to see if they too are needing asphalt / driveway work done as this might help bring down your individual cost.

Mr. Danel and crew repaired a half dozen or so pot holes in our road and parking lot surfaces. These had been repaired before by others but the repairs did not last. The repairs by Mr. Danel have been holding up quite well. I will definitely be having him back to do crack filling and seal coating.

Absolutely use Absolute Paving, Inc.! Our old gravel driveway was at least 20+ years old and in deteriorating condition. After a torrential storm in March, parts of the driveway looked like the Grand Canyon. We received several estimates and decided to go with Absolute Paving. Damon impressed us with his thoroughness and willingness to explain options and tell us his thoughts on what was the best way to proceed. He answered all of our questions and was just an all around nice guy. His suggestions for our situation were on target, no frills, just what needed to be done. Other things we loved about this team: they were "absolutely" hard working and really did their utmost to turn the job around as fast as they could, without at all compromising quality. The removal of the old driveway and laying of the new asphalt was completed within the time quoted (1 1/2 days). All in all we had an incredible experience working with Damon and Absolute Paving. Our neighbors were in awe at the quality of the work! We hope this review helps others find them! Jeff & Suzette S. (Glen Arm, MD)

Had my driveway ripped up and had them install new asphalt. Then I had the company install a 12x12 slab for my shed in the back yard. I must say that I was very impressed with the craftsmanship of their work. Danny the project manager/owner could not have been any nicer. He stayed until the project was done. I would highly recommend this company for your next project. Don't waste your time on those other companies. I had called 3 companies to come give me an estimate. One company told me that it was raining and he would call me back. No call back. The other company told me to dig out the slab and apply stone and he would asphalt it for me. I was like,( that's what I'm paying you for). Danny (Advantage Asphalt) came to my house in the rain. Gave me a excellent quote and called me later in the week to see if I had any questions about the project.. I'm extremely happy in their work. I give them 5 stars.

We offer all paving from parking lots to driveways to speed bumps! We are the fourth generation. We offer the following services: - Paving - Tar and Chip - Seal Coating - Grading - Milling - Striping All work is guaranteed. We are a reputable paving business, and we have served Maryland and Pennsylvania to a commitment of competitive pricing and good workmanship!

Robert Stanley Asphalt Maintenance has been in the industry for thirty-three years. It is a family-owned business run by Vince Gerace, who is always present on all projects. We're devoted to high-quality workmanship. Being this hands-on guarantees home owners that the same quality of work we expect for our own driveway translates to yours. Call for a free estimate. Services: *Driveway/Parking Lot Sealing Robert Stanley Asphalt Maintenance uses the finest petroleum-based asphalt sealer on the market, LN-11 Equinox. Surface preparation includes removing dead grass from driveway edges, using a steel-bristled broom to clean heavily-ingrained surface dirt where needed, blowing the surface clean with high pressure walk-behind equipment, and then spray applying the sealant at 2300 psi pressure. Trim boards are used to prevent over-spray onto houses, garage doors, sidewalks, etc. to ensure neatness. (Please note that we really saturate your driveway edges by triple spraying them because the edge area is normally the most vulnerable to deterioration. This will result in some sealant over-spray on your grass where it abuts your driveway edges. Though initially somewhat unsightly LN-11 does not kill your grass so the next time you mow your lawn the grass with the sealant on it will get cut off. It's a matter of function over form.) *Crack Repair Even though our product helps to prevent cracks from forming in your driveway, many driveways already have cracks. These cracks, left unattended, will eventually erode the stone substrate below. Water then pools under the surface, causing further surface breakup when it freezes. Robert Stanley Asphalt Maintenance offers hot pour asphalt crack repair. This rubberized product is heated to over 350°F. It fills existing cracks as it is dispensed, perfectly melding the joints together. A squeegee is then used to ensure levelness with the existing surface. The use of this service will greatly enhance the longevity of your driveway. *Line Painting Line painting is available for commercial/residential parking lots. *Pothole/Patch Repair Potholes do occur, and over the years we have formulated a reparative process that has demonstrated sustainable results. We use QPR, America's #1 permanent pavement repair material, which allows you to avoid costly repetitive repairs. Get the good stuff. Our Sealant-LN-11 Equinox The crux of the whole asphalt sealing industry is the sealant, more particularly the type of sealant that should be used. There are essentially two choices: 1. petroleum-based asphalt sealant or 2. coal tar (a waste product of the coking industry) Robert Stanley Asphalt Maintenance uses the best petroleum-based product on the market, LN-11 Equinox Asphalt Driveway Sealant, made by Seaboard. That being said, there are 2 major causes of driveway deterioration: 1: Surface asphalt oxidation caused by constant exposure to the sun 2: Application of coal tar sealant to your driveway's surface Cause #1 Surface asphalt oxidation caused by exposure to sun. Over time, the oxidizing effect of the sun on your driveway will result to your asphalt's surface to dry out. This oxidation depletes the ability of asphalt to keep the stone together. Using LN-11 Equinox sealant on your driveway relieves this issue. Since LN-11 Equinox actually contains asphalt, it has the revitalizing/restorative properties needed to preserve the surface integrity of your driveway. (The concept is similar to the preserving elements that oil-based stain provides when applied on decking or wood siding.) Cause #2 Using coal tar sealant will cause your driveway to deteriorate. Beware, consistent use of coal tar sealant will, in fact, trigger your driveway to crack, as well as deteriorate. This is a huge problem that seal-coat companies that use coal tar will never tell you. It doesn't really make sense to use a water-based/latex product like coal tar on a petroleum-based surface like asphalt. Most homeowners are not aware that they have a choice. So why do the vast majority of seal-coat companies in this field utilize this product? Because it's a lot less expensive. (It costs about 75% less than LN-11 and can consist of up to 50 percent water, one of the chief culprits of asphalt deterioration. But keep in mind that you get what you pay for. The companies that use coal tar certainly don't go around promoting the fact that there is a superior product on the market. An uninformed consumer is their most excellent client. Coal tar sealant application is equivalent to painting the surface of your driveway with a latex emulsion -- it just covers your driveway, but has no revitalizing benefits. Why does consistent use of this product cause cracking and deterioration of your driveway? This is because that while it's true that coal tar will seal your driveway's surface, it seals it so tightly that it prohibits the natural ability of asphalt to expand, which is something that's very important when you consider how hot your driveway gets in the summer. This is a critical issue and here's why: The only way for the summer heat build-up to escape from a coal tarred driveway is by cracking the surface of the coal tar, which by default results in the cracking of your driveway's surface. Is it any wonder that companies that use coal tar don't want you to know about this. As stated above an asphalt surface, if allowed to, will expand in the summertime to release heat. LN-11 Equinox has the expansion properties necessary to allow your driveway surface to breathe and release heat, thus preventing rather than causing surface cracking. This ability in conjunction with it's rejuvenating and beautifying properties makes it the superior choice for your driveway. Just take a walk around your neighborhood, and you'll see the spider and/or alligator cracks in your neighbors' driveways; it's normally not because of the age of the driveway, but because they are getting sealed with coal tar. Also, continuous use of coal tar will cause driveway surfaces to become smooth like ice, which is dangerous in the wintertime. Get the good stuff. Frequently Asked Questions Q: Is there any prep work I should do before you come out to seal? A: Normally no. We make every effort to sufficiently clean your driveway's surface of leaves, stones, etc. prior to spray application. However, if your driveway has been subject to a lot of mud that has now dried on, it would be to your benefit to power wash it within a couple of days prior to sealing. Q: How long should I stay off my freshly sealed driveway before using it? A: Under normal conditions 24 hours is sufficient. Q: Do you barricade the driveway entrance to prevent accidental use during dry-time? A: Yes, we place wooden stakes on both sides of the driveway and string yellow banner tape across the opening to prevent this from happening. Q: How often should I have my driveway sealed? A: I normally recommend every three years. Some of my customers do it annually for beautification purposes. With our product you can do this; however, sealing your driveway annually with coal tar will escalate surface cracking. (Click the Our Sealant tab for more on this subject.) Q: If coal tar sealant can harm my driveway why do so many seal-coating companies use it? A: Because it's a lot cheaper since it contains up to 50 percent water. (Again, it's a waste product of the coking industry.) In my opinion the use of this product on residential driveways is one of the biggest frauds I know of consistently perpetrated upon homeowners. (Click the Our Sealant tab for more on this subject.) Some closing thoughts: It's our hope that you found the information on this website useful and has given you the ability to make an informed choice. Due to the higher cost of our sealant we will not always be the lowest price out there but again you get what you pay for. We can tell you however that while we may not be the least expensive choice there are many coal tar seal coating companies in this area that somehow justify charging more than we do even though their sealant costs a fraction of what ours does. We believe you'll find our expertise, care, experience and product is a winning combination that's hard to beat. We encourage you to "Get the good stuff" from the asphalt maintenance professionals at Robert Stanley Asphalt Maintenance.
