Introduction: A certified Suzuki violin and viola Instructor with a BM and MM in viola performance, I offer private lessons in the Portland, ME area. Experienced in teaching both beginners and those with experience, I am happy to teach students of all ages and levels. I currently have openings in my studio, and would love to hear from you! It is my belief that music should be available to those of all backgrounds, and I aim to reach a wide range of individuals through both my teaching and performing. Learning an instrument can shape who you are, developing work ethic, confidence, and ownership. Through the study of music, there are countless life skills that can be learned; creativity, listening, communication, compassion, empathy - just to name a few. These skills developed through learning a musical instrument benefit each individual as a whole, and can be applied in every other aspect of life and learning. I love working with those of all ages and levels - If the student is ready to learn, motivated, and loves music, I am excited to teach them.

Lizzy is a wonderful teacher! Her teaching is patient yet demanding, and studying with her has improved my playing both technically and musically. I felt very prepared going into auditions and performing for friends and family

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I am now teaching all lessons via Zoom or FaceTime for as long as Stay at Home recommendations are in place - if you are looking for an activity to occupy you or your child from home, I would be happy if you reached out! Rates 30 min - $35 45 min - $45 60 min - $60

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

A free 20 minute trial lesson is offered to all prospective students so that we can meet each other and decide if it will be a good fit. Please feel free to contact me to ask any questions you may have or to set up a trial lesson.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I began my own studies on violin, and studied for 10 years before switching to viola. I then pursued my viola studies and received a Bachelors in Music from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and a Masters in Music from Boston University. I have also been certified in Suzuki violin and viola, and completed a fellowship with Lincoln Center Education, working alongside teaching artists in New York public Schools.
