Introduction: Over the years I have made a point of writing some of the material I intend to teach in class. I found this to be particularly useful in my Russia and Easter Europe elective. Eventually this led to write two books on Russian history. The first came out in 2003 and is entitled “Renegades, Rebels and Rogues Under the Tsars. The second is due to come out this March and is entitled “ Enemies of the People Under the Soviets. This experience has helped me to guide many of my students, who often struggle to achieve their potential carrying out research projects and writing term papers.
