Owner Alexia and Leslie are not only mother and daughter but make a terrific face painting duo and truly put the FUN in their company name! Both ladies were an absolute pleasure to work with and their level of professionalism, outgoing personalities, and artistry were top notch! We hired Funtastic Face Painting to provide entertainment for a charity awareness walk event and they exceeded any expectations that we had, going above and beyond making sure they ordered key paint colors to go a long with the event that extra measure meant more to us than they even know. We look forward to working with these ladies again in the future filling our face painting needs, and highly recommend that you book these ladies for your next event as you won't be disappointed!

Mark was beyond great. He showed up 30 minutes before the actual show time went over some stuff with me. Patiently waited for us to finish eating and cut the cake and then he started his magic show. And boy was it magic. The kids were glued to the floor and didn't wanna miss a thing. All my guests were beyond happy and everything was great. I was very pleased with the show that mark put on for our party. I will always count on mark when I have a party and in need of entertainment. Great job!!

We had John for both magic and balloon artistry entertainment at our Family Reunion. He did a great job of entertaining both the adults and the children and the kids loved their special balloons. I would recommend John for other family friendly events.

We hired Mark for a surprise birthday party at the Royal Park Hotel. He preformed before, during and after the dinner. He was very funny, and the magic tricks were awesome. He did a table by table performance so everyone got a first hand magic experience. He also did a a magic/comedy act with the 2 birthday people. That really made it special. I would differently recommend him for your event. He works well with kids or adults. Best money spend for best entertainment.

Very happy with MJF Entertainment - Matt took the time to research the music we were looking for and put together several playlists for us to review - and that was all before we hired him for our wedding. No other DJ we contacted would do that. Was also willing to work with us on price which was appreciated. I would recommend using MJF Entertainment!

Jeff Wawrzaszek with A2 magic did an amazing job providing LIVE for Kids with an unforgettable experience that the children cannot stop talking about. He helped make our first children's event in downtown Ann Arbor a total success despite the weather inclement. We were excited when Jeff said he would be a part of the entertainment for the event and his show did not disappoint. We recommend Jeff with A2 magic for all types of ages as both the children and adults found it very enjoyable.

Fauxstar is a top quality entertainment company and Jamie was an excellent DJ. He displayed great professionalism and was responsive to my requests and suggestions. His arrival and punctuality was beyond reproach as he arrived early and was set up well before the party started. Music during cocktails and appetizers was appropriate but could have been more upbeat although he described what he would play and I agreed. He also suggested some karaoke and was well prepared so it went off without a hitch and was a great hit with the guests. In addition, he sang over a couple tracts and his excellent voice enhanced the effect. He could have assumed the role of MC to motivate the party goers a bit more but again there was no request from myself to do that and eventually the party was jumping. In retrospect there should have been more communication between the host and DJ before the event so expectations can be expressed. This was a great value and I recommend Fauxstar highly.

The gentleman setting up was punctual and very professional. Be sure to double check the name of your requested bounce house with the contract confirmation. Mine did not match, and I never heard back from the company on the confusion. The picture of the bounce house I requested was a better one than what I received. I only paid for the lessor one... but I had another option with another company for the better one that was similar pricing. More disappointing that I never received an apology for the confusion.

Kept the crowd going, had fun with our hecklers, really just a great fit for our crowd and we loved him! If you are looking at other entertainment or comedians, stop. Just hire Jason and you won’t be disappointed! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

The absolute Best !!!! I've been working with Robbie for over three years and it's been worth every minute. I drive from Holland MI to take my lesson every two weeks. So, If you want to put your music and its future in understanding and caring hands, Robbie is the instructor that can do that and develop you as a musician. Robbie will give all of his years of experience of being one of the best guitar players in the world. He truly wants for YOU to exceed. His only interest has been how he can ,make me a better guitar player. I cannot describe the inspiration you get when you learn from the best.Robbie cares about your lessons and he cares about you. He came with me and helped me chose my first quality guitar, and now it can play the blues !!!! Robbie has become an inspiration and mentor to me. You have to give Robbie a chance to inspire you in your journey to be a great guitar player. Robbie will not let you down, Robbie will lift you up and show you how to play with passion and emotion.

My husband and I were honored to have Detroit family entertainment emcee Dj and Emcee our Jazz on The Grass Event in July. We used him every year for two years now. He was so easy to work with and even helped spice up the event by adding some humor. The dance floor was never empty. He hit just the right note by mixing humor and professionalism. Most importantly he kept the audience engaged and the event moving right along. I highly recommend Detroit family entertainment for any corporate or private event. You will not be disappointed!!!

Brandon did my wedding and it was great! My only advice to him is to read the crowd a little more. See what the people were dancing too and keep playing that.

Maria is an excellent vocalist, we were hired as musicians for a wedding reception and had five songs to prepare and sing. She was very well rehearsed before the event, such that when she performed the songs live, she sang them flawlessly with backing tracks and a PA system that she never worked with before. A very consummate professional!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a bounce house?

Bounce houses, inflatable castles, moon bounces, inflatable slides and jumpy castles are all large-scale inflatable houses made for interactive entertainment. Commonly intended for children, bounces houses are made of PVC or other durable materials such as nylon or vinyl that when look like a house or castle when inflated. Rental companies deliver bounce houses to birthday parties, festivals, fairs and other events. The companies have industrial-grade blowers that fill the large structures with air to make them bounceable. A common size for a bounce house might be 15 feet by 15 feet by 13 feet. Bounce houses often have a flat, inflatable bottom pad and inflatable walls so that kids can jump and bounce without being hurt, along with a netting door and windows so that kids can see out and adults can see in. Bounce houses are suitable for both indoor or outdoor events, depending on the venue. For large events, rental companies often have a staff member who stays with the structure to monitor safety and keep it properly inflated. There are also wet/dry bounce houses with slides that you can hook up to a hose on hot summer days. A bounce house can be a fantastic addition to a party with kids, keeping them both entertained and contained.

Are bounce houses safe?

Bounce houses can be safe if operators and parents take proper precautions. Before renting from a company, confirm they are a legitimate company and hold any licenses and insurance required by your state. Ask to see reports of bounce house safety inspections provided by third parties, to make sure the equipment is in good operating condition to prevent injuries. If the rental company does not provide a staff member to oversee the bounce house for the duration of the rental, make sure you are properly trained on how to oversee the equipment. The American Academy of Pediatrics offers these guidelines for parents to help keep their kids safe when using a bounce house:

  • Follow guidelines for safe installation including anchoring. Position away from fences, greenhouses, branches, etc., which would be dangerous should a child fall onto them.
  • Consider limiting use to children 6 years of age and older.
  • Have kids take off footwear, eyeglasses and jewelry before playing.
  • Take sharp objects (pens, keys) that could cause puncture injuries out of their pockets and hands before playing.
  • Don’t let kids of significantly different sizes into the bounce house at the same time. Smaller kids can get hurt by colliding with or falling under an older child.
  • Heed the height and weight regulations of the inflatable.
  • Food, drink, bottles, glasses, etc., should not be taken onto the bounce house.
  • Supervision should be maintained all the time. Supervision means watching constantly, not just being in the area.
  • Do not allow children to push other children off the inflatable. If it is a flatbed, this is especially important to avoid broken arms and legs. If the bounce house is walled, don’t let kids bounce against the walls and crash into one another — this can result in collision injuries.
  • Don’t exceed the maximum number of children at one time in the bounce house.
  • Don’t let kids climb onto the outside walls. Flips and rough play should also not be allowed.

How much does bounce a house cost to rent?

Bounce houses are a fun way to keep kids entertained during birthday parties and other events. The national average cost for renting a bounce house ranges between $160 and $200. Cost will be affected by the size, design and functions of the bounce house you rent as well as the length of the rental. A three-hour rental will likely cost less than an eight-hour rental. Many rental companies offer fun additions like popcorn machines or cotton candy makers, and provide packages with discounts on multiple items. Another item that you may want to rent with your inflatable is a generator to keep the bounce house inflated. Here are some examples of average inflatable rental costs, packages, and common add-ons that many companies provide:

  • Bounce house, 10x10x13-foot: $95.
  • Bounce house, 15x15x13.5-foot: $125.
  • Wet/dry slide, 14-foot: $150.

  • Folding chairs: $1.50 per chair.
  • 6-foot folding table: $8.
  • Snow cone machine: $45.

  • Cotton candy machine: $55.
