Steem cleaning addressed all our requests, and provided a great service. The carpet had some heavy traffic, and pet stains, that look so much better now. The rest of the carpet brightened up, and looks refreshed. Punctual, and trustworthy. Would highly recommend.

The Kleaning People were friendly, timely, and desired to make me a happy customer. Throughout each step of the process they asked me if I liked the work I was seeing. If I wanted them to redo an area, they did it. The only reason I am rating this experience a 4 star is because of the carpet deodorizing process. The solution they used was not strong enough to remove the smell of dog that was in our home. I decided to use a different product (although they were willing to come back and attempt to deodorize again) that eradicated the smell almost immediately. Other than that, the service met my expectations and I am appreciative of their work.

The carpet was very clean when they left. They did everything they could to remove the stains in my carpet. My carpet lifted on the stairs, i was able to push it back down. I would use them again.

Mr. Wheaton was hired to clean the carpeting in two bedrooms, a stairway, and various area rugs. His work was outstanding! The bedroom carpeting is cream colored and over 20 years old. Replacing it was a real consideration. After Mr. Wheaton finished cleaning it, it practically looked brand new!!! The area rugs in the foyer were heavily soiled and had a "doggie" smell as that it's our dog's favorite place to lay. I watched in amazement as Mr. Wheaton cleaned the foyer rug and returned it to its original color. We are no longer greeted with the "doggie" odor upon entering the house! The stairs, a high traffic area, were cleaned of all their spots and look great. Liked the whole "green" method as well. Will continue to call upon Mr. Wheaton and Greener Method for all my carpet cleaning needs!

I hired A Lil Tough of Heaven LLC for a Move-In cleaning. They came with 5 people ready to start the minute they arrived. They were all very nice and friendly. They did a great job cleaning all the bathrooms, floors, kitchen cabinets, windows, and Refrigerator. I paid extra to get my hardwood floors cleaned by their Bona Wood floor cleaner. It made my floors look amazing. Not only did they look clean by they felt clean. You could just feel how clean they got with the Bona. They wiped all the baseboards down and disinfected. They even sprayed some cleaner that helps with the smell of cat. The people who lived here before us had a cat and you could really smell it but after the spray and all the cleaning it really smells 100 times better. The only thing I noticed after they left were that the blinds were not wiped down (something I didn't specify to them though). Just make sure to tell them what you want done and they will do it. They did a great job and I would most definitely recommend them!

I had an exceptional amount of pet hair stuck in my carpeting. They actually removed it along with stains. They cleaned a bathroom for me that really needed it also. I would definitely use them again.

After getting several quotes for carpet cleaning after a move out (rental home) we found Michigan Carpet to be comparable if not better than most. However, Don was extremely courteous and went above and beyond in the customer service department. Don was able to flex with our move schedule and the gentlemen he sent out to do the work was rite on time, very professional and actually finish early and still did a beautiful job. There were even a few pet marking that had previously gone unseen and Michigan Carpet was able to get them out no issues. We decided to call them a couple weeks later for a second home that was being turned over and we had the exact same fantastic service as the first time. In fact his unit had been cleaned by a large name company six months before and they didn't remove all of the soap residue so we ended up with nasty dirt trails throughout. Michigan Carpet was able to restore the carpet like new. It has been three months since our service and the carpets still look great! We will not hesitate to use Michigan Carpet, or refer them in the future.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

    What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

    Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.
