Our daughter, Syd has been taking lessons for about 4 months - Dean is a wonderful teacher and musician, I think what sets him apart from others is his passion (and patience!) for music and teaching, not only are the lessons fun but he also teaches about music, its history and theory. He makes easy to follow lesson plans each session and every week my daughter can't wait to go to her lesson. She has improved tremendously since being instructed by Dean!
I am a band teacher in the Grandville area: Dr. T has given individual and small group lessons to my band students, teaches all instruments from saxophone to guitar to trumpet. In addition to his unmatched qualifications and experience, Dr. Taylor teaches students HOW to practice, how to problem-solve, how to better themselves. Dr. T is knowledgeable, professional, and builds great rapport with his students. I highly recommend Dr. Taylor for your music lessons whether you are young or old, experienced or just getting started.
My 12 year old daughter started piano lesson last fall. She absolutely LOVES her lessons. Rachelle is also flexible with scheduling when conflicts come up, we appreciate this very much.
Ryan explained music to me in a way that I could understand and helped me really enjoy music. Ryan has a great understanding of music theory and music scales. He can make music come alive.
I have found miraculous improvements on my guitar skills after taking just a few lessons with Chris! He has helped me so much with my theory and with mastering different styles of guitar, like blues and jazz. I would not be the musician I am today without Chris's help. Very talented musician, I would 100% recommend!
My four children have been through a variety of piano teachers over the years, and Miss Val is our favorite. I asked my kids what they like about her, and they said she is kind and calm but firm, and gives treats! Miss Val gave a strong foundation to my kindergartner, and also challenged my oldest in Jr High. Miss Val knows tricks to help students learn proper hand shape. She brings in extra, creative music content from time to time. She caters to each child's music style. We love Miss Val!
Our daughter has taken piano (and briefly, violin) lessons with Ms. Betz for several years now, starting when she was 4 (she is 8 now). We transferred from another music academy that did not seem to know how to teach young children. We couldn't be more pleased with both the process and the results through Ada Piano Academy. Ms. Betz is very patient and an excellent teacher. She tailors her curriculum to the particular learning styles of her students. Ms. Betz adjusts her teaching as the children mature. With our daughter, for example, Ms. Betz knew just the right time to switch from using little stuffed animals to encourage playing and practice to requiring more self-motivation and responsibility. We are very pleased with the amount of music theory that is included with the lessons, as well as musical education about different genres and musicians. She also allows kids to experiment with different instruments. Ms. Betz is always thinking of fun ways to encourage the kids to practice (like fun holiday practice challenges that can earn a prize), and when they struggle, she thinks of different ways to teach the information they need to learn. She is also always available for questions and offers advice when home practice is a difficult. Ms. Betz offers multiple concerts throughout the year in a very relaxed and non-intimidating atmosphere. She makes the concerts a lot of fun for the kids, including raffles and other entertainment to create an environment where the kids are comfortable and do not get overly nervous about performing (just a healthy dose of butterflies). Ms. Betz is very punctual. Lessons start and end exactly on time. She also allows flexibility in scheduling. Our daughter has developed quite the bond with her, and we are so grateful to have another trusted adult in her life!
I have been taking lessons for several years from Joe. I'm learning both mandolin and violin and more than that music theory. These are third and fourth instruments for me but the first stringed instruments ever. I am an adult learner and have found that Joe has answers for simple questions and more complex ideas in the learning process. Oh, and did I mention patience!
My son took lessons for 6 years with Jessica. In that time, the development was breathtaking. By the age of 11, he was playing pieces by Chopin, Mozart, Debussy, Burgmuller and a number of other classical composers. He eagerly anticipated the lessons each week and looked forward to working on the pieces with her. During Christmas breaks over the past 3 years, when piano lessons would not take place, he would tackle a new Chopin piece on his own and would proudly play it for her at the first lesson in January after the break. She was such a great inspiration to him, it's a shame she no longer teaches in Chicago. He's 13 now and is still playing and giving public performances, using the solid fundamentals that Jessica provided to keep progressing and playing more difficult music. I would strongly recommend Jessica as a piano teacher and I'm sure her approach and method of teaching will make any child (or adult, for that matter) a better musician.
Denielle is a wonderful music teacher, caring for her students' growth and success. She is committed to each student finding the love for music that she has experienced all her life.
I started taking lessons with Paul a short time ago and I have made tremendous progress. My lessons have been tailored to what I personally need, not just some structured lesson plan. In one lesson, he was able to tell where I was at in my playing and got me started in the right areas to become the kind of player I want to be. Paul takes time to explain the "why" behind what he's teaching me and what it is leading up to. He answers all of my questions in detail and relates them to a song or something that I already know. This helps gain a better understanding of what I am learning. My favorite part about taking lessons with Paul is the environment he creates when teaching. It is laid back, there is no pressure and most of all, just plain fun. Paul came highly recommended from a friend and I would do the same for any one.
Rena arranged the music for my wedding and then performed as a pianist. She did an amazing job arranging the music and her piano skills are exceptional! She cares a lot about details and making sure she makes the music sound the way you want it to. She has a vast knowledge of music theory, and a lot of natural talent. I can't recommend her enough!
She has been very easy to work with and allows us to have a flexible schedule. Her teaching style is good and she really knows her stuff.
I teach beginner, intermediate and advanced guitar, banjo, dobro and lap steel lessons. I teach students the fundamentals of music theory and proper techniques on their chosen instrument so they can go on to learn from any media available.
I can provide for my students the all of the basic knowledge they need to pursue their musical venture in playing the BASS Guitar. I come with with years of professional experience and exposure to great music and the people involved in West Michigan.
Claire is an experienced teacher and performer. She has taught full-time in addition to directing choruses and teaching privately for the past five years. She has performed classically with the St. Louis Symphony Chorus, but Claire has also performed commercially--vocals, guitar, ukulele, percussion--at bars, coffee shops, restaurants, and other notable venues including the Women's March on St. Louis in January of 2017.

We teach a lot of students at our music store. Our students benefit from the teaching culture we have at the store. Our instructors share ideas and techniques daily; we're always looking to improve. Most solo music teachers have a handful of students at any given time. As a result, the ability to improve their teaching skills will come more slowly. We offer a free private lesson, check us out no strings attached!
I give 30-/45-minute music lessons. I teach violin, viola, and cello. I taught school for many years and also conducted a community orchestra. My students perform at recitals and at a community service.
