I'm so happy with Up Close Home Inspection! I was so relieved to have had Jay Latzman as my Home Inspector. He provided great customer service which was very important to me as I was a first time homebuyer.During the inspection of my newly bought house I learned a ton of helpful information about how my home works including important shut off valves. I was given the inspection report the same day of the inspection which was incredibly efficient. The BuildFax report I got was amazingly helpful so that I knew which contractors had previously worked on the roof and plumbing. I would recommend Up Close Home Inspection to all other first time home buyers or anyone needing a DETAILED home inspection! I got an excellent price compared to other home inspectors. My favorite part was that I was able to ask all the questions I wanted and still could text/call/email Jay if I ever had questions and that he always got back to me right away.

Jay at Up Close is an awesome Inspector! Up Close Home Inspection is the type of company that will never need to advertise. Once you use it, you will recommend it to everyone you know. Everybody who ever mentions to me that they're interested in buying a house (and maybe some who don't) are going to get an earful from me about Jay Latzman. He is professional, punctual, honest, likeable, and truly great at what he does. These days, when it's rare to find someone who takes great pride in their work, meeting someone like Jay is refreshing. I am maybe the most irritating type of person to deal with in a home purchase because I've never purchased a home and I have close to zero knowledge about them, but I'm risk-averse and a lawyer so I'm convinced that everyone has an angle and it is out to fool me. So basically I want to hear every last detail even though I have no idea what anyone is talking about. Yet, Jay was incredibly patient and the house inspection was honestly FUN, even the part where Jay went into the attic on a 100F degree afternoon! (I wouldn't have done it but Jay has no reservations at all about climbing right in.) He is as good at communication as he is at home inspection - I think both are equally important at this job. He picked up pretty early that neither of us had a clue about homes, so he adjusted his level of explanation accordingly. We learned a lot, not just about the house in question but about homes and home maintenance in general. You can tell that Jay is passionate and enthusiastic about his work. His impressive work ethic is something you just don't see these days anymore. There was no need for the seller of the home to put his older dog outside either as Jay was happy to pet the old boy and clearly loves animals! How could you not love Jay?? Some tips: 1) You can reach him by email, voicemail, or text. I'm crazy, so I did all three, but he seems equally responsive to each. 2) I think the BuildFax Report I got from Jay was well worth choosing Jay just for that! What an amazing insight into how much my home was actually renovated and how much money was spent! Not to mention, I know who the contractors were that did the remodeling and when they did it as well. 3) He sends you a an email with an attached PDF to view your inspection report, which you can save and keep or print out if you like. He also gives you an envelope with his card and the inspection agreement so everything is nice and neat, kept in one place with the paperwork for my home.

As beautiful as this home is, we are actually considering to withdraw our offer. This home is clearly high maintenance and unfortunately for us, we simply don't have time for the upkeep with all that we have going on in our careers. Jay at Up Close is a great home inspector. He is extremely thorough and took all the time I needed to understand everything about my new home! For what I got with the free BuildFax report (which was an amazing bonus) and Safe Home book, I probably should have paid double (which is what other inspectors quoted me) and if I ever need a home inspection again, I know I will be calling Jay at Up Close Home Inspection! Awesome experience for me as a first time home buyer!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The price for a home inspection depends upon a few variable factors including the square footage of the house, the age of the house, and if the house has a crawlspace, garage or any other out-buildings.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Twenty-four (24) hours of acceptable Continuing Education (CE) per year are required to maintain InterNACHI Membership. CE must be verifiable. When a member completes any InterNACHI online course, the member's education log is automatically updated with verifiable CE.
What types of customers have you worked with?
It's called a "comprehensive report". I meet with the client and usually their real estate agent is present as well. Starting from the outside working in, I detail and explain as we walk the entire property, not just the bad, but the good as well. Upon completion of the inspection, I will prepare an inspection report which will be emailed to you the same day. I will make every effort to give as much care and detail to your home inspection as I would if it were my own home.
