FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing is simple, Party To Go rates are fair, and consistent, we take into account only the equipment used and the length of the event. This is part of our commitment to professional integrity. Our pricing is not a secret because it is not subjective -- we do not engage in "price gouging" our customers based on what we think they can afford to pay. "How do you set prices?" Our view is that offering a range of pricing also means offering a range of quality -- something we would never be willing to do. We can't be half as good for half the price, or twice as good for twice the price. We will simply do our very best for each of our clients for a fair price, therefore we stand by our fair and consistent pricing.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
We mainly do wedding receptions, but also corporate parties.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Be very careful, look for someone you can trust. There is a big difference between a professional DJ with tens of thousands of dollars invested in their equipment and a bedroom DJ that buys the cheapest equipment without a care for quality. There is a wide array of DJ's in between as well. Look for someone that at the very least has backup equipment. In my opinion it's not a matter of if an electronics piece will fail, but a matter of when it will fail. Quality pieces of equipment may take years before they fail maybe 10, 20, 30 or even 40 years or more, but they all fail at some point, but with cheap equipment sometimes it's broken right out of the box or shortly thereafter, at best it may last less than a year. Having quality equipment and being prepared is the key to managing these potential risks. How does the DJ you're speaking with manage these? How do you know they have quality equipment? Ask to see it! If they are using Ipods chances are it's not high quality. What type of Lighting do they have? There is a big range of options here as well. How will it fit the room? Will it dazzle your guests and make your event like no other, or be several blinky lights like kids get at the circus. When a DJ says they will bring 3 lights what exactly does that mean? They should at least provide you with a picture of their setup. This can aid in choosing a quality DJ. How is everything going to be presented at your event will the table be skirted and all cords hidden with an attractive well-dressed DJ? Or will the DJ just throw some equipment on a table with electrical cords going everywhere, sitting in a chair wearing a baseball cap? Again, a picture of their setup will help. Is the person you're talking to going to be your DJ or will they sub contract it out? Nothing worse than being duped like this and having someone you've never met before showing up to DJ your event. Does the DJ have a nice voice and announce well or is he a game show host that will embarrass you and your guests? Do they really care about your event or is this just another gig for them? Will they meet with you a head of time and plan a sequence of events for the night? Do you want to walk in and cut the cake or wait until after dinner? If you hire a professional your reception should run smoothly with no surprises. Your other vendors will appreciate a professional there as well. After all, you paid a lot for that photographer, shouldn't the DJ work with them not against them to help the photographer get that perfect shot? At the very minimum there should be a contract stating what services the DJ will provide. We have been called too many times by panicked brides because their DJ didn't show up to their event or won't return their calls a week or two before their event and we are already booked. The bottom line is you need to feel comfortable with your DJ. Not every service is for every client. Everyone has different tastes and requirements. A good DJ will realize when they may not be the right fit for them or for you, but recommend someone who might be. I hope this may help a little in choosing a quality DJ. I wish you all the best in choosing all of your event professionals. Dan Williams Party To Go LLC 816.304.4326 Partytogomobiledj.com
