FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Master of Architecture Bachelors in Interior Design & Construction Management 10 years of experience

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

kbkd focuses on retail, restaurant, workplace, hospitality, and residential projects, and our clients are typically investors, developers, business owners, and home owners.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

So you think you need an architect... or maybe a structural engineer? I get it, it's confusing, right? Don't worry, I've got you! Architect/Designer: We can do a lot of different things. We do everything from a basic layout/initial designs to full construction drawings that a contractor will build from to handling city approvals and everything in between. Some architects have specialties or further training. For example, kbkd also does interior architecture which essentially means in addition to designing the exterior and interior bare bones of a building we also do full interior materials selections like cabinetry, tile, lighting, etc. Doing a residential project? You can use an architect, but you aren't required to. Typically people use one when they are doing larger projects like an addition, full remodel, adding a second story, etc. Doing a commercial project? You will almost always need an architect along with other engineers like structural, mechanical, electrical, etc. Structural Engineer: They can help you if you want to take a wall out to make an open layout, add a dormer, or are making any changes that you think might impact the 'bones' of your building. They will deal with the structural components, ie framing, beams, columns, that sort of thing. Or maybe you're building a new building? You'll need a structural engineer, but you'll also want an architect and we'll work together to make a successful project.
