Michael was very responsive and able to start on my project right away (painting, stair railing, some miscellaneous items). A different handyman within his company did the actual work. I was able to communicate well with Michael but the handyman was not always as responsive as I would have liked. We had an issue come up but Renaissance Man covered the additional work at no extra charge. The project was completed on time.

Details: Bathroom • Basement • Bedroom • Residential • Repairs • Installation • Painting • Interior walls • Doors • I need help with a variety of projects, approximately 2-5 hours of work

Mike came out and did an actual quote an assessment to ensure the price was accurate. Total cost was within 10% of quote. Work was done well. Small items around cleaning up, leaving tools behind, etc but nothing major in the negative category. Overall a good experience! Edit- Mike came back and made sure everything was cleaned again and made right. Thank you!

Details: Tile • 100 - 250 sq ft • Tile • I have already purchased the materials • Home

Stay away! I hired renaissance Man Llc last yr. I hired him because he was a good salesman and I believed everything he said. The problem was when the work started, he wanted to do whatever he wanted and ignore my wishes .He just talked and talked on the phone until he distracted me. I didn't live at the site, so when I asked for updates with photos, he said I didn't trust him. That was my mistake to feel sorry for him. He needs to be micromanaged by the client, or he will take advantage of the situation. After weeks of me realizing I made a big mistake hiring him, he called and created a situation which would cost a lot more and prolong the project. It turned out to be a Huge embellishment, and just a way to get more money out of me per other experts who inspected the problem. I stopped the project with him. Now the bill came and he inflated his material cost by 20% because he claimed he was allowed . The labor time he quoted for the whole project was already used up and gone over as he claims, but the project wasn't near to being done. Plus even with the unfinished work I still owed $3k beyond his contract with me. Find another contractor. I do understand the contractor would feel required to reply, but please note, the only reason photos were sent to me is because I repeatedly asked. There were no site changes, that is wrong, only 1 location. I was very clear and he understood from the beginning what I needed. I had a hard time getting accurate dimensions from him as I needed them for Home Depot. The amount of times I asked for accurate dimensions got to the point of absurdity. I don't want to go on point by point. I don't wish my experience on anyone, and too much time was wasted listening to him boost about himself. I do believe the fact I wasn't living there played a big role, with an assumption of no accountability. I stand behind my rating.

Details: Repair of existing cabinetry or fixtures • Installation of new tiling or flooring • No, plumbing will not need to be relocated • No, electrical will not need to be relocated • Already have plans - just need installation • Residential

Renaissance Man LLC's reply
We understand that Eileen has strong feelings about this project and respect her right to share her perspective. This project was performed under a signed time-and-materials agreement that clearly defined labor allowances, material allowances, and overages based on actual time and materials. Throughout the project, we provided ongoing communication, including emails, photos, videos, receipts, invoices, and detailed labor/material tracking. To clarify one point, references to “changing conditions” relate to scope and field conditions encountered within the same property during a water-damage restoration project—not a change in location. The contract specifically notes that pricing is based on visible conditions at the time of signing and that additional concealed or evolving conditions may require additional labor and materials. As documented throughout the project, additional work was required due to field conditions and client-directed selections and changes, which is typical in this type of restoration work. All billing reflects actual time and materials used in accordance with the signed agreement, and a final reconciliation was provided along with a paid-in-full receipt and discount applied to the remaining balance. We stand by the documentation, the work performed, and the terms of the agreement, and remain confident that a full and objective review of the project records supports this.

Michael was great to work with. He showed up on time to the appointment, gave a competitive quote, and his level of workmanship was great. He helped replace a window that had been damaged from ice dam leakage. Highly recommended!

Details: 1 window • Windowsill or casing needs repair • Water is leaking in • Casement (pushes open on a hinge) • Residential

I was more than pleased with the work performed at my home. The Renaissance Man was suggested to me by an also pleased neighbor. For me they completed a very difficult task of matching a vintage 1888 beam with a new installation 5 feet away. The result was perfection. Another crew member caulked and painted beautifully. Last but not least they took care of a number of those little things around the house that are so annoying. It certainly is my pleasure to tell you about my experience with The Renaissance Man.

Thanks so much Jane. Glad we could help. Happy New Year!
