What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I generally start at $3.00/sqft to sand and finish. I charge $.50/sqft extra for dark stain and give $.25/sqft off if jobs are higher than 800 sqft. repairs are at an hourly rate, and I charge $3/sqft to install.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In the bid process I look for the customers expectations, go through all of their options and give estimates that don't grow halfway through a job.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been sanding my whole life but in my later years have taken courses with the nation hardwood floor association on new finishes, sanding techniques and install code.
