KAYLA IS A FRAUD! STOLE MONEY AND DID NOT PROVIDE SERVICES. On Thursday, June 15, 2017, Kayla Ivarson; owner of Interior Painter contacted me on Thumbtack in regards to a paint project I posted on Thumbtack. I was looking to hire a painter to paint the interior of my house as this is a brand new custom home built that has one layer of flat paint from the builders. Kayla and I arranged a time to meet for a quote on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 7:00PM. Kayla showed up at my house to give me a quote. She quoted me at $1,500.00 to paint the following areas: upper hall stairs, master bedroom, master bath, living room, dining room, kitchen, lower stairs, entry way, back hall and family room. Upon agreement of the $1,500 quote, Kayla requested I pay half of the $1,500 up front. She immediately charged my Capital One credit card $750.00 using her Square Mobile application. We agreed to start the project on Monday, June 26, 2017 and end on Monday, July 10, 2017. Kayla ensured that the paint project would only take one week. I requested one week off of work to supervise Kayla while she conducted the project. I called Kayla on Sunday, June 18, 2017 to verify that she would start the project on Monday, June 26, 2017 as agreed and she did not answer any of my calls and text messages. Once again, on Monday, I have made several attempts to contact Kayla, left voicemail's and text messages and was unable to get a response. All my calls were going straight to voicemail. All of this resulted in not receiving the service and missing a day of work. At this point, I was no longer interested in her services and wanted a refund. I made one final phone call where she answered. In that call, I expressed my frustration and how this was very unprofessional and all I wanted was to get a refund. Kayla stated to give her until Friday, June 23, 2017 and she would refund the $750.00. When I did not hear back from her once again, I reached out and sent her a text message wondering what went wrong again. Kayla ignored all messages and phone calls. Several unsuccessful attempts have been made to resolve the dispute with the merchant. I hope anyone that is trying to do business with Kayla sees this message and RUNS AWAY!! I want to make sure she does not do this to anyone else.Aug 3, 2017VerifiedIvarson Interiors's reply

We are very happy with the way our cabinets turned out. We would highly recommend to hire for any interior painting project.Nov 19, 2017Verified
We have hired Ivarson Interiors for at least four big interior painting projects at our rental properties. We have also used Kayla in our own home to paint the main level and basement. She is knowledgable, honest, flexible and on top of all of that - affordable. We are glad to have someone like her to call when a project arrises.Feb 5, 2016
Kayla did a great job in repainting our 80's kitchen cupboards, and painting the walls. We also had her refinish our bathroom cupboards that had worn down to the wood. Great gal, ease to work with - and very reasonable!Nov 14, 2017Verified
Ivarson Interiors did an awesome job and will use again for future projects!Apr 18, 2017Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My estimated are based on the square footage of a room, and linear feet of trim.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Typically, we talk over the phone, then we meet so I can see their project and give them a formal estimate.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I attended the cabinet making program at Hennepin Technical College. It's a 2 year and 30 hour per week program. It was there that I learned how to use spray equipment for trim and cabinetry, but also staining and painting.
