I have been working with Bennett for about 2 months now and am very happy I contacted him. I am pretty new to fitness and have never been a regular gym goer. I always had some excuse in the past, but I became tired of not having the energy to keep up with my kids. Bennett has helped me with my mindset, confidence and persistence in working toward my fitness goals. I was a bit nervous to contact a personal trainer since I’ve never really gone to the gym with any regularity and didn’t know what to expect (plus Jillian Michaels and trainers like her scare me), but Bennett has been the very opposite of those stereotypical personal trainers. For one, he is an excellent listener and wants to know your goals and your body’s trouble areas. He is careful not to push too hard and is very keen on safety. Most importantly, he does things the right way, with the whole picture of fitness and diet and proper form and safety. He will meet you at whatever stage you are at and work with you to increase your health and fitness. One of his favorite expressions is “For now,” as in “Bennett, I am having a hard time doing this exercise.” “For now,” he’ll say, pointing me toward a fitter future. I see a lot of the reviews are from people who have been working with Bennett for 4+ years, so as a newbie I am speaking to people just now considering (or who have hesitated to consider for whatever reason) working with a personal trainer. I have several health issues that I am trying to work with. Bennett is very knowledgeable about the body and how we should approach this. He listens... I mean really really listens when you talk which is great, and maintains eye contact. He is also very down to earth. Not afraid to 'say it like it is' which happens to be pretty much the only kind of person that can get my attention. I have worked with Bennett for several years and have been extremely happy with the training he provides. He has an amazing ability to identify areas of weakness and knows how to formulate workouts to address them, make them challenging, new, and work on whole body fitness with his strengthening protocols. As a chiropractor, I am also confident in my patients training with him since he is great at working with people who have injuries and need modifications to their workouts. I have been working out with Bennett for a few years now, and it has been an awesome experience! Bennett is motivating, but not the typical "scream in your face" kind of way like most trainers seem to be. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to communicate and find out what expectations someone has for me to make sure I fulfill them. Discussing past exercise experience, goals, current nutrition and exercise habits along with any injuries or limitations as well.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Graduated N.P.T.I (National Personal Training Institute) 2006 N.A.S.M- CPT BJJ- Brown Belt This is more then a "job" to me, it's my passion. I'm constantly learning and seeking to improve my skillset to help my clients. I'm always challenging myself to improve my knowledge and have a high level of experience on different functional strength training and mobility methods. I also work different Gymnastic movements, kettlebells and Muay Thai Kickboxing into my workouts as well.
