Bennett has been amazing! I am brand new to working out, and he has made taking the plunge much less intimidating. He coaches on everything from nutrition to lifestyle and does a great job of explaining why we're doing particular exercises a certain way. He plans each workout differently and always keeps things engaging. I can't recommend him enough.

Marty has helped me with two different services. Marty has helped me with my professional career through his coaching. He is an excellent listener and can help me process through changes in my career and has positively influenced where I am today. Marty has also assisted me on several occasions with my professional wardrobe. This has included conference wear, travel and general work attire. I continue to maintain a working relationship with Marty as my needs continue to grow and change.

Melissa has been my fitness trainer for the past 10 months. I am in her exercise classes 3x weekly, and I have also participated in two 12-week challenges with her. She is very knowledgeable about both physical training and nutrition. She challenges us to do our best, but always provides alternatives for anyone with an injury or other condition. We have both men and women in our classes, a wide range of ages and fitness levels, and everybody gets a great workout in every class. I am not the most fit person, and I really appreciate that she often modifies a workout so that I am able to participate fully, even if I am sometimes unable to completely do some exercises. Melissa has been a very good coach for the 12 week challenges, as she knows a lot about nutrition as well as exercise. She is very organized, and encourages us to plan and prep all our meals. She provides menus, recipes, organizational tips, even coaches us through our vacations and celebrations which tend to derail our best intentions. She understands this and helps pull us through the lapses to get back on track. During the time I have been training with Melissa, I have lost 17.5 pounds and dropped 8.2% body fat. I am stronger, have more energy and look much better now too. If you’re looking for a trainer who is friendly and understanding but one who will challenge you wherever you are on the fitness scale, I highly recommend Melissa Jansen.

Where do I begin?! Jon is hands down THE BEST personal trainer (and coach!) I've ever had the opportunity to work with. You should just hire him, but I can give more details and tell you why.... As a woman, I'm kinda picky and try to be careful about who I work with, but Jon is a trustworthy, safe guy to be around. I know he's happily married and an awesome dad to three kids ... the kind of guy who volunteers at his kid's schools and coaches their sports teams. He rocks as a person... And he really rocks as a trainer! Jon has helped me lose 15 pounds, helped me build muscle (love!), taught me a TON about nutrition and exercise, and he makes working out fun and efficient. I'm a busy working mom so I don't have time to waste! He holds me accountable (which I need!) and cares about me as a person. He's been my trainer for several years and I wouldn't go to anyone else. He listens and he's great at customizing workouts that help me reach my goals. He really knows his stuff and is happy to answer all the questions I have. He may not be the cheapest trainer in town, but you definitely get what you pay for in this industry. He's the BEST. Hands down. And if anyone is looking for a baseball coach- he's awesome at that too! My son improved by leaps and bounds after working with Jon. Since he's a dad himself, he just "gets" kids and knows what motivates them. If anyone needs running training, he'd be the guy for that, too. I'm not about to run an ultra marathon like Jon does (haha!), but if you want to do any races - like even a 5K, this is the guy to call! He has a nice gym in Edina and is also available to train people around Maple Grove. Great equipment at both locations. I bet he's open to other ideas too. Give him a call! Sorry so long, but he's done so much for me that I wanted to leave him a great review.

What I like about Oumar's speeches is the fact that he emphasizes the importance of taking action to improve aspects of our personal or professional lives. Oumar gave a presentation to our group recently and it felt like we were attending a professional retreat where the speaker gets you excited to take on life challenges head on. He is a very gifted speaker that connects with, inspires, and motivates his audience.

I have had the pleasure of working with Sarah as my coach for the past four months. This has been a very empowering experience! Sarah creates an environment of complete trust and support. She intuitively knows how to get to the core of an issue, and allows me to discover the answers through deep listening and being fully present. Sarah’s coaching has helped me find clarity on what is truly important and why. This has enabled me to be a better leader at work and also achieve my personal goals. This experience has been a huge confidence booster. Thank you, Sarah!

I came to Emily Adams for advice about the choices I needed to make involving my career and future endeavors. She responded very quickly and came to have a conversation with me. She was very attentive and listened carefully to the concerns I brought forward. She gave me wonderful advice and provided resources to alleviate my concerns. With her help I feel assured that everything will work out for me. Within a few days, she was willing to assist with cleaning up both my resume and cover letter, and now I feel completely confident with applying and posting both my resume and cover letter. I feel that with her advice and help, it will help me better both personally and professionally.

As a small business owner in a service industry, I'm constantly faced with new challenges. Whether it's managing the business, leading employees, customer service, I've found myself wondering- Is there a better way I could be doing this? What's the best way to handle this situation? How do I get through "growing pains?" Dr. Jeremy has extensive training and systems in place from his ownership of HealthSource Chiropractic. After listening to not only the struggles in business but also the things that were going well, he was able to offer some strategies to manage the business more efficiently. He made some very strong points about management and leadership, which actually encouraged me to take a few days away from the day-to-day to focus on our business. After our coaching session, I put a lot of thought into what it takes to be the business owner. What kind of people do I want to hire? What tasks should I be doing and what should I be delegating? Where do I want the business to be in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years? What steps are needed to meet those goals? These are just a few of the things that I focused on. Since our meeting, I have new procedures in place and written goals that I look at every day.

"Amazing, is what I found this program and my trainer Tiffany Klenken to be. It was one of the most eye opening, relevant programs I have ever participated in. The tools provided were easy to use and at the same time very thought provoking. By using the tools and insights from Tiffany I was able to pin point what was causing the roadblocks in my schedule that were holding me back and adversely affecting my body. Together we worked toward solutions that worked for me, resulting in my original goals being met. I can’t say enough about Tiffany and this program. If you are really serious about making lasting changes in your life, I recommend you contact Tiffany Klenken and get started today."

I provide a wide variety of wellness services including the following: * Life coaching * Fitness planning * Nutritional consulting * Alternative healing * Wellness education Each service comes with a free consultation and then a custom plan. Pricing is based on your needs. I look forward to working with you!

My services include personal training, nutrition and weight management counseling, wellness/life coaching, and exercise programming and planning help. I am a certified personal trainer, weight management specialist, and progressive calisthenics instructor who also has two master's degrees (English and mass communications), so I have not only learned about fitness but also how to actually teach people fitness concepts, practices, and advanced strategies. Many trainers may have learned some really good fitness information, but can they effectively teach you that information? Can they actually do all of the movement themselves? I am also a current practitioner of many fitness genres and specialize in extreme calisthenics and body weight training (movements like human flag, muscle up, handstands, etc.) Mindful Movement can help you go from pull-ups to muscle ups, from knee push-ups to one-hand push-ups, from basic leg raises to the human flag, and everything in between!

CareerSherpas was founded on the idea that where one person can improve their life dramatically, everybody deserves the same chance to succeed. What's with the name? Sherpas are the native mountaineering guides of the Himalayas who have been relied on for successful ascent of the highest peaks for generations. Their daily work as climbing and terrain experts allowed many expeditions to succeed against impressive odds. I took on the moniker CareerSherpas to express what I look to achieve for my clients: Reaching the pinnacle of personal success. My own career has had ups and downs, but I've learned a lot about the trajectories that can be set if you aim high and want to share that success and knowledge with others. What makes CareerSherpas different? CareerSherpas was founded on the idea that where one person can improve their life dramatically, everybody deserves the same chance to succeed. I don't live in an ivory tower; I work in the real world and see every day the trials, tribulations, and enjoyment that work can bring when you're doing what you enjoy. I came to do this because people often struggle with knowing and accepting what they really want to do or even realizing that they aren't doing it. I know what it means to develop and prosper in a professional career with a balanced and busy life, not because I've studied it, but because I live it every day. Who am I? My name is Peter Fitzgerald, and I am an ex-patriot Australian information technology professional with a broad array of experience in all the many facets of IT, but that doesn't really start to explain how I wound up offering to help people with their careers, does it? In a lot of ways, it does! I started out helping friends, family, and colleagues discover opportunities for growth, and in doing so, discovered a knack for connecting people with the things they really wanted to do and finding ways to help them do it. I believe in practicing what I preach, and have consistently been applying the same techniques and approaches to my own career that I use to help others. While my results may not be typical, I have been able to consistently improve my situation over the past seven years and get involved in work that invigorates and engages me. I want to share this success and help you set and achieve goals that make your life better. Contact me, and let me help you find a fulfilling, successful career for you.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

  • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
  • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
  • Defining your career goals
  • Creating a plan for job searching
  • Improving networking strategies and skills
  • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
  • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
  • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

  • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
  • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
  • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
  • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
  • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
  • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
  • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

When it’s time to take your career to the next level, it’s time to hire a career coach. The cost to have a career coach help you with your professional journey will vary based on how many sessions you require, the level of coaching you desire, and the rates of the coach as determined by their experience, expertise, education and training. On average, career coaching sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the professional and what your needs are. Career coaches in smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living will also typically have lower rates than those residing in large metro areas like New York, although most do offer remote coaching. Many coaches also offer a free introductory consultation, which gives you the opportunity to determine if their personality and coaching style are the right fit. It’s helpful to ask the coach about their relevant experience and get references from former clients. Depending on the professional, session rates could range anywhere from under $60 to well over $250 per session. Package discounts are a good way to commit to the relationship as well as get savings on services.

What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
