Taara did an excellent job with my long-haired chihuahua, Jax. We never used a pet sitter with him before and were quite worried he would not be very easy to watch. When we went to meet her, she was outside with her dogs. My dog is very vocal when he is scared and he did just that, but Taara just reached out, and scooped him up. She held him close and comforted him. At that moment I knew he would do fine with her. After dropping him off, she kept us informed with texts and pics of him throughout his stay. He actually made friends with an Aussie she was watching. She also had a spa day with a doggy massage and nail trim ( she asked if it was okay first). When we picked him up, he actually kissed her goodbye, on the nose, while I was holding him (that has never happened, he is very protective of us) Taara is a very caring and loving towards animals. She is very knowledgeable and I highly recommend her as a pet sitter and I definitely will use her again! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Jenny is a professional pet care provider. She does an excellent job taking care of our two dogs and two cats. When we interviewed her she had a lot of questions for us about our pets, she really wanted to get to know them. We have a new puppy and Jenny wanted to know the all the verbal and non-verbal commands to help him pass level 1ASPCA training.

I had to find a sitter for my 2 dogs and my cat and had to find one in a short period of time. Cody responded within 24 hours and watched my animals from Friday-Monday. He responded very quickly especially when I needed one on such a short notice, and he was very polite and I could tell how much he loved animals. He did a wonderful job taking care of my babies, and I will be using him whenever I need a sitter for my animals from now on, and I will also be referring him to any of my friends that need a pet sitter. If you want a reliable person and a person who gives your animals lots of love and attention, he will not let you down!

Hands Healing Hounds supported us through a very difficult time, our pet's terminal illness. The holistic approach demonstrated through massage, essential oils and other remedies helped our pet feel relaxed and we felt she had less pain. We are very thankful for Hands Healing Hounds and would make a strong recommendation.

My husband and I are new to the area and we needed to find a groomer for our dogs. I found Club Mutts on the internet and thought I would give them a try. No need for us to look any further. What a WONDERFUL place and the staff is amazing, so friendly. Club Mutts gives that true home like feel. My Shi Tzu looked GREAT when we picked her up.

I have been extremely happy with the care Lara at Clasen Dog Sitting has provided for my pets. Having a senior dog with serious health issues had me searching for someone I could trust who would provide extra TLC for her while I was away. I found that and more at Clasen Dog Sitting. Having someone home with Isabelle all day, allowing lots of lap-sitting, letting her follow them around 24/7, gave me great peace of mind. I have used their services many times and recommend them to anyone who is looking for professional and loving care for their dog.

I am a three pet owner myself, and have always had pets. I live a short distance out of Elk River, Mn. On 2 1/2 acres so the area is more quiet for pets. I would prefer to have your pet here while you are vacationing, unless you live 10 miles or less from my location. I have a 75' diameter small fence for dogs that are 15 lbs. or less. I also have small to large portable kennels. I ask that you please have all shots up to date along with the Bordetella vaccine.

        About

My aim is to treat your pets just like any other family member. I will treat them with love and care for them as if they were my own. My top priority is to provide TLC to your pets. I provide care in the pets' own home, as I know it can be an inconvenience to have to bring them to a kennel and have them boarded. Not to mention, pets are most comfortable in their own homes, with their toys, blankets, etc close at hand. I have spent the last three years volunteering at the Buffalo Animal Humane Society as a dog walker and have also volunteered at the Animal Humane Society's annual Walk for Animals. I've loved animals my whole life, and I would love the chance to care for your pets while you are at work or on vacation.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does boarding a horse cost?

Finding the right horse boarding location is a big step in a horse ownerโ€™s life. This will be the place your horse will live and where you will visit multiple times per week or even daily. The cost of horse boarding will depend on the level of service you desire, the location of the stables, and the luxury level of the property. Here are some examples of average horse boarding costs:

        • Overnight stabling: $30 per horse per night.
        • Partial boarding (owner feeds and mucks): $220 per horse per month, with a three-month commitment.
          • Administration of oral medication: $10 per dose.
          • Bandaging: $20 per event, plus cost of materials.
          • Trailering to vet if owner is unable: $25, plus $25 per hour to wait with horse.
        • Basic full boarding: $325-$350 per month per horse. Includes twice daily hay and daily stall cleaning.
          • Horse training: $20 per session.
          • Pasture turn out: $20 per session.
          • Blanketing: $1 per day/$30 per month.
          • Vet or farrier hold: $20. This means haltering the horse and standing with it as it receives treatment or shoeing.

Where can I board my horse?

You can board your horse at any barn or stable that provides horse boarding services. To find horse boarding near you, read reviews of area locations and speak with equestrian friends to find one with a solid reputation. Ideally, the location will be within a reasonable drive from your home or office. This is especially important if you are paying for partial boarding services and are responsible for feeding your horse and cleaning its stall each day. You may choose your boarding barn or stables based on the services they provide. Some offer more extensive amenities โ€” at an added price โ€” that reduce the amount of work you need to do to keep your horse comfortable. Consider whether you want training, blanketing, exercise and other perks in addition to standard offerings like hay and stable mucking. Your stable may have temperament requirements and proof that your horse has the proper vaccinations required by your state. This protects both your horse and the other horses in the stable. Many states require that locations offering horse boarding services have stable licenses that are renewed each year. Always be sure to enter into a clearly written boarding contract that will cover your horse and belongings in case of accident, and remember our tips for smart hiring.

        What is horse boarding?

Horse boarding is like rental housing for your horse. Horse boarding is helpful for people who donโ€™t have the space or the resources to install and maintain a stable on their property. A horse can be housed in a barn with other horses and receive the care they need. Owners can visit their horse for riding, grooming, training, etc. Horse boarding services may vary based on the company and the price. Some horse boarders may offer short-term boarding of 24 hours to several nights for people passing through an area, while most offer boarding by the month for horses whose owners live in the area. There is partial- and full-service boarding, which indicates how much of the work of feeding the horse and cleaning the stall is the responsibility of the owner rather than the boarding barn. For an added fee, horse boarding can also include grooming services, riding and training, medication administration, and more.

To find the right boarding fit for you and your horse, make a list of your top priorities. These might include immediate access to riding trails, round-the-clock supervision, or a nearby or affiliated veterinarian. Always visit the site to learn exactly where your horse will be kept and whether the barn and grounds are in good condition. Read reviews, and always practice smart hiring. Itโ€™s also critical to sign the proper legal documents that protect both you and your horse, such as boarding agreements. Above all, make sure it seems like a place your horse will be comfortable between your visits.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
