- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
To maintain and renew our certification, the National Academy of Sports and Medicine requires us to have a minimum of 2.0 credits (about 40 hours) of continuing education over the course of 2 years, as well as a current AED/CPR certification. However, as we strive for excellence, our group participates in regular educational seminars, exams, research, etc. to guarantee we stay current in our field of expertise.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When searching for a fitness professional, there are many things to consider. Is there a membership fee? Is the environment safe and clean? Does the gyms equipment meet my goals? Does the staff promote an education process for a lifetime of health? Are the trainers certified through a nationally certified board or are they certified through a weekend course. Do the trainers also have a four-year degree in kinesiology or exercise science? Finally, do the trainers have an updated certification with continuing education credits listed.
