About
Music is a way to pass forward what I have learned through the years as a student, teacher, and performer. Finding how each student understands music and helping them find their voice or in the case of the piano their fingers, I have taught at all levels of education with my background in Music Education, Music Therapy, Special Education, and Childhood Development, I can reach most any student. My average student retention rate is 4 to 5 years. After over 40 plus years of teaching I know what I am doing when helping students learn Music. I have passion for performing and for teaching. I also want my students to excel. I enjoy helping others grow and learn while having fun and enjoying making music. Teaching is not work it is a joy.

Michael has been working with our 21 year old special needs grandson, Matthew, for 3 hours or so a month over the past year. Matthew has had narrow interests (Disney videos) with no time for any other outside interests. Michael has been able to draw Matthew out by relating to Matthew's Disney characters through other books, stories, music and games. Matthew's focus and awareness has been expanding thanks to Michael's thoughtful engagement and interactions. Michael has helped Matthew develop the means to carry on a conversation beyond the limited "yes" and "no" stage. Michael has a gentle way of sensing and guiding an individual via his art, voice, song, books, games in teasing out more expression and personality in the "special needs" realm!
