We could not be happier with the services provided by The Move Crew for our interstate move. Not only did the crew schedule our long distance move with very short notice, but they also gave us a very fair estimate that didn't change one dollar throughout the process (unheard of in my experience with movers!). Everyone on the team is friendly, courteous, and a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I felt that all of our items were safe and well packed, thanks to the supplies the Move Crew provided as well as their attention to detail. Everything arrived on time and undamaged (also unheard of in my experience and that of others). We are very, very happy with this experience and we would definitely work with The Move Crew again, as well as recommend them to anyone else looking to move. THANKS GUYS!

I cannot say enough good about Hedberg Moving. They made an exact appointment for my estimate and kept it. They were thorough and listened to my concerns and priorities and took them into account. For the move itself they gave me a one hour window and showed up on time within 15 minutes of the beginning of that window. The crew was professional, experienced, friendly, engaging, and listened well to direction. All our possession were well cared for and delivered intact. We've found nothing broken – nothing! It was a short distance to move, but that's amazing. This crew worked hard and carefully, yet quickly. They took 2 hours less to pack us than estimated. They took 1 hour less to move us than estimated and the total bill came to $800 less than the estimate. I would rather get a high but estimate that takes everything into account and end up with lower charges because of conscientious work than a "low ball" estimate and then getting soaked for unanticipated charges. Yet their rates are competitive and reasonable compared to the other companies we looked at. In fact they were our lowest estimate and we were attempting to consider only the best, most careful and reliable companies we could find. All of the people I spoke with over the phone were helpful and gracious to speak with. Their receptionist is knowledgable and often she is the only person I needed to speak with. It has been 18 years since our last move so I had many questions. They answered them well. They offered sound advice, even when their recommendations cost them an additional sale. That happened twice and we were very happy with the results of taking their counsel. This is a great company. If you live in Minnesota you should definitely consider and probably hire Hedberg. I've also left this review at BBB and Google.

Brandon, Andrew & crew were awesome! I moved from Minneapolis to Milwaukee, in a multi-leg move, and America's Movin took the whole move on in one day. They were incredibly communicative from the quoting process, to prepping and planning, to the final hour of the move. I was so impressed by their precision for disassembly, reassembly, and care for furniture and fragile materials. They were so hard-working, diligent, thorough, and a great crew to have around for a long-distance move. Family owned, operated, and kindhearted people. I highly recommend America's Movin for your short & long-term moves!

Both movers were on time on a snowy day. They wrapped my armoires before moving them. They were professional and efficient I would recommend them and utilize their services in the future.

It was a long distance move and Joe did a exceelent job, what we are looking for. Aanplanned, he came day before moving day and loaded our stuff and left the truck at our place. Again on next day he drove the truck to our new home along with us. He and his team did the unloading right then immediately we reached our place. I highly recomend Joe.

Too many items were damaged. They hire out labor with questionable experience. I don’t feel they would be good fit for long distance moving. Local moving is what they should be their focus.

I highly recommend Robinson Moving Company and will hire again if needed. Chris was professional and friendly. He understood I was making long distance moving arrangements for my uncle and disable aunt who were in Minnesota while I am in Texas. Awesome customer service!! Thanks a million for assisting with their move.

We recently used Daymakers to help move a family member's belongings out of an apartment and into storage. I grew up in the area, but live in Atlanta now, so we were coordinating from long distance. They made it SO EASY. I've used maybe five different moving companies in the last ten years and Daymakers was hands-down the best. I would recommend them and use them again without any hesitation. They were early (I've never had a moving service be on time, let alone early), the staff was incredibly professional and courteous, and they handled everything with care. I never once felt like something would break or wasn't being handled as if it were their own belongings. These guys hustled, as well. Sometimes with hourly service, you get movers who take their time, trying to rack up the fees. Not the case with Daymakers. They were efficient and exceeded my time expectations by over an hour. Also, I loved that the price included everything - the labor, the truck, and the moving blankets. Other services will tell you something low, but then tack on fees for mileage or blankets. I learned that they hard way before. Daymakers was up front and everything was inclusive, making it very easy to know what we would pay in the end. Lastly, setting everything up with them was easy. Great communication. All around it was the easiest moving experience we have had, and during a particularly stressful time at that.

These guys have moved me multiple times and they were great!!! They cover up everything with blankets and are quick and priced fairly. They dinged my door a but in the first move but I don't think they noticed and it wasn't a huge deal so I didn't really let them know either. They wrap and protect everything really well. Wouldn't use any other movers in the area.

Overall I had a positive experience with Godspeed. The movers were on time and hard working. They did damage a piece of my furniture and offered to reduce the price of the service to compensate. Would recommend them.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
