- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always enjoyed fixing things and working outside. With this business, I can do both. Previously I worked in a corporate job dealing with office politics, unrealistic deadlines, etc. In this job, I can explain to the client what we will do, when we can do it and the cost associated with the work.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
While our focus is Lawncare and Landscaping, we found that many clients, especially senior clients, required assistance with other tasks around the house and found that other business were too expensive. We want to provide services to our clients that they need, either in their yard, or in their home if possible.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Have a good understanding of the work you desire. When using a service such as Thumbtack, provide as much detail as you can so that the Service Professional can give the most accurate price possible. Service Professionals should price the work you requested but also provide additional suggestions if there is sufficient information. For example, if you want to overseed your front yard, the Service Professional should give you a price for overseeding but also let you know that the highest germination rates for new seed will be achieved when fertilizing, and possibly aerating, are also performed. These should be provided as additional services for the client's consideration.
