FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices per design at a festival usually range from $3 to $25. If the booth fee is very high I may start at $5. My minimum price for parties is $150 for 1.5 hours, $190 for 2 hours, then continue to add $40 per half hour after that. But please contact me for a specific quote because these prices can vary in certain situations. Balloon art (simple) alone is $75 for the first hour, more if detailed balloon art is included, and $30 for each additional half hour. Often the two are combined, and the rate depends on how many children are expected.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, there is a great deal of education available for face painters online and at conferences. I am constantly reviewing tutorials on design ideas, product information, application of make-up, painting techniques, hygiene, etc. Many years ago, when I first began, none of this was available and I learned everything the hard way! But even in its beginning stages people loved my work, and have often said, "You are the best face painter I have ever seen." I doubt that, but it feels good to be appreciated!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Someone at my church volunteered me to do the face painting for vacation bible school. I declined, explaining I was unqualified and had no experience, but they gave me no option. Thank God! I loved it, so after three summers of doing that, I tried a festival...the rest is history!
