We worked with David on a full kitchen remodel in the summer of 2019. We were not looking forward to this project as we have two young kids and two dogs at home, all whom can make any task insurmountable. From the get go, we were impressed with David's can-do attitude, his willingness to alter plans when I changed several of our initial design ideas, and his ability to manage and executive a complicated timeline while keeping the project on time and on budget.
There were times when David's extreme level of detail made me roll my eyes, but after seeing the finished product, I realized that this quality is why his results speak for themselves. He always made time to talk through every decision with us and he even scoured blogs and design websites to try and identify a way to make some of our more ambiguous ideas come to life. He was always available after hours for our many questions throughout the process. Everyone who worked with David was punctual, professional, and flexible (never seemed bothered when kids or dogs entered their workspace).
A personal story that summarizes what it's like to work with David: we had planned on being out of town when we had our floors stained because David had warned us that the smell was overpowering. We had arranged for someone to come in and take care of our dogs while we were away, but David said that the dogs really shouldn't be in the house at all because of the smell. We had no options for our two-month-old puppy, so David and his family offered to watch her while we were away. This was the degree of problem solving that our project required!
We'd highly recommend David and Helm Construction. We've already had a neighbor use him for a large project and they were very pleased.
