About
Why Study with me?
What makes studying music with Pete so special?
1. Personalized, patient learning environment
While beginner students learn out of my book, I still strive to cater my lessons to each student, combining a healthy mix of fundamentals and student interests.
2. Performance opportunities, with real pro musicians
In lieu of traditional recitals, my students have the chance to perform in one of our Live Series concerts, hosted at a real local venue, with special guest performers capping off the show.
3. Students can write, record, and release their own songs and music
Students interested in songwriting can use the in-house recording equipment to record their original music.
Helping students get to that "Ah-ha!" moment, whether learning a tune, chord, scale, or new technique!

I've been teaching myself through a mix of DVDs books, and online videos, but not making any progress. After my first lesson with Pete, I have learned where my roadblocks are. I'm now confident that my playing will improve.

Pete is fantastic! He's been instructing my daughter for about a month and a half now. He definitely has a methodical approach to his lesson and a goal that he is working towards. She is still learning many of the chords, but he has explained that they will soon pull it all together to make a song. I also really appreciate that he takes a little time to ask her about her life so they can get to know each other. My daughter looks forward to seeing him each week. Highly recommend him to those looking to start playing guitar!

Pete caters his lessons to his students' abilities and makes learning to play guitar fun. My daughter has been taking lessons for several years, and practices for the sheer joy of playing. Pete is a very talented and accomplished guitarist who takes great pleasure in watching his students improve under his guidance.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$25 per half hour lesson,
Group lessons are available (3-10 students) at $20 per hour class.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Lessons usually start with basics: parts of the guitar, open string note names, basic power chords, and using those power chords to play simple chord progressions. From there we move on to learning and mastering open chords, and using those more complex chords in learning tunes. After a certain point of learning essentials, the students goals take over. Whether that be learning more tunes to play at the next campfire, or developing technique to become the next great shredder, we can work towards those goals together!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor in Fine arts in Music, in Jazz Studies from the University of Kansas (2016)
Associate of Arts in Performance, Guitar from The Musician's Institute (Los Angeles, 2011)
5 Years of experience teaching professionally.
