**Rating: 3 / 5 Stars** **Pros:** Excellent primary craftsmanship when done personally, initially honors verbal agreements, great work on early solo projects. **Cons:** Severe drop in quality and oversight when outsourcing to crew/helpers, major scheduling and timeline issues, unwillingness to stand by original verbal commitments in the end. --- We initially hired Josh / I Can Fix That LLC for several smaller projects—including garage wall repairs, access door prep, and hallway painting—and his solo work was nothing short of excellent. He was meticulous, detail-oriented, and demonstrated great pride in his craft. In fact, because his early work set such a high standard, we hired him back a second time to complete a much larger first-floor interior painting and exterior siding project. We even recommended him to our neighbors based on that initial experience (though after the issues we later encountered, our neighbors withdrew their plans to use him). Unfortunately, once the second project began and he brought in additional crew members and helpers, everything went downhill. The overall quality control plummeted immediately, with prep work—such as filling dings, light sanding, and basic touch-ups—being largely ignored or dismissed unless repeatedly pushed. He simply lacked proper oversight over his sub-crew. Furthermore, while he initially stood by verbal agreements during our first project, that completely changed by the end of the second job. We faced broken scheduling commitments, shortened workdays, repeated delays, and an unwillingness to honor timeline promises made in front of us regarding post-vacation wrap-up work. Disagreements over basic scope items—like interior baseboard and trim caulking—led to a sharp breakdown in communication. When we attempted to submit a formal complaint through Thumbtack to resolve the contract dispute, our attempt went completely unanswered. If you run into a dispute or issue with a contractor on the platform, be aware that you are essentially on your own. **Important Tips for Prospective Clients:** * **Use the Thumbtack Message Center:** Make sure you use Thumbtack’s official message center for *all* correspondence and written records. Do not rely on verbal agreements; while he honored them initially, he did not stand by them in the end. * **Hire Him Solo Only:** If you can hire just Josh to personally perform 100% of the labor on your project, we fully recommend him—his personal work is fantastic. However, if anyone else or extra crew is involved in the job, run.
