Edgar was a co-officiate at our wedding, November 12th, 2005. The ceremony was held in St Pauls Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. My husband, John, and I both knew Edgar and we asked that he be a part in our ceremony. We admired his caring approach with people, the knowledge and wisdom he brings to his professional work counseling people, and his faith. He attended our rehearsal dinner and took time to meet and know each of our families. At the wedding ceremony itself Edgar spoke about marriage. Using themes accessible to everyone, he made our ceremony very personal, a gift to us and our family and friends on our wedding day. We still remember and talk about the words he shared that day. He spoke eloquently about the importance of each of us as individuals, and the importance of our shared bond together. He also used the idea of a garden as a metaphor for marriage. He told us that through the years we would need to tend to our marriage, till under the old and use it as food for the future to grow together as a couple. Edgars presence gave us a warm feeling, and his words will stay with us for a lifetime.
