Mark was very professional he came out on the spare of a minute to give me a quote late in the evening after I got home from work. I was very satisfied with the rate and hired him on the spot. He showed up as planned and worked the entire morning building a fence for me. His workmanship was excellent and I would highly recommend him! Janice B.

The job involved a fence replacement for my elderly mother who is very particular. I was hesitant to use a small company especially when Landon and Libba showed up in a small sedan (non commercial type vehicle) for the estimate. However I cannot be more please with the way they handled the project and end result. The installation was complicated by a drainage issue which they worked with and they did other detail items with no or minimal charge including relocating a sprinkler head, relocating planting material and adding gravel for drainage. The fence looks great and more importantly Mom is happy! I am recommending Southern Greens for wood fence replacement!

They were very professional. My fence was installed within 3 days! Any concerns I had, he addressed them and quickly took care of them. They also installed a garage storage system for me. I would definitely use them again. I have some drywall damage that I want them to fix in the near future. I am thoroughly pleased!

Highly recommend. They work hard to get it right. Impressed that they constantly check board placement with a level. Communicate well with homeowner. Quality materials and they use ONLY SCREWS!! Pricing is very fair. And they clean up the area, very well, afterward. They replaced a 250ft wood fence with 8ft gate. Great job Jerry Forrester, thanks again! Oh and our dog is happy too!

Josh Walton's Tree Service did an outstanding job with trimming, limbing up, and cleaning up dead wood from 2 oak trees and cutting one down from our yard a total of 3 trees. I had gotten 5 quotes from local businesses/arborists and he matched the price of the lowest one. Josh was eager to get to job done and it was a job done right by his team. We are very satisfied with his services and would highly recommend him. He sent his insurance information and W9 to us before he started the job. He made sure to go over what he will be doing exactly and made sure we he understood what we wanted. He even went above and beyond to use the extra mulch from the stump grinding to fill in the uneven spots in our back yard which we did not ask him to do. He also stacked the extra wood neatly for us for fire wood from the tree we had cut down. He is a hard working man that will deliver above and beyond that deserves a chance to be hired. He will not disappoint you. He will make sure the job gets done and will make it right if it is not.

We have used G.Harris Construction for several different services. Mr. Harris enclosed our patio, making it into functional room, finished inside and out. We have used this company for heating/central air, installation of over the stove microwave with venting, remolded kitchen with new counter top's, dishwasher install, ran & installed ice maker lines, installed ceiling fans, made two half doors and installed along with putting up six foot wood fencing with a double gate that doesn't dip or drag in the middle. We will continue to use Harris Construction as we have been pleased with the quality of the work done. Reasonable prices, on time service, arriving prepared to work. This company is professional, honest and trustworthy being owned and ran by a Christian family man. Thank you for the opportunity to express and review a excellent experience with this contractor. I would feel confortable recommending them for any small or large jobs with confidence. Thank you, The Taylor's.

Jon, helped me get my house ready to put on the market to sell. He installed new light fixtures in my master bath and kitchen. He also replaced rotten wood on the exterior of the house and did some painting on the inside. The icing on the cake was the epoxied garage floor that turned out fantastic. My house sold fast due to the work that Jon accomplished on my house. His work is outstanding and I highly recommend him.

Bottom line: Amazing quality, totally professional, and we give our highest recommendation! We hired Luis to re-paint the exterior of our garage. After a day of scraping paint, he explained that the wood siding was so old and rotted, we were in need of new siding. He gave us the option of painting the old or going with the new siding, and we went with the new siding. We really appreciated the information about the state our current siding was in and the options to either replace it or paint it. Shortly after we agreed on the price, we discovered there was no plywood underneath the old siding. Luis immediately offered to put that on as well, and only charge us for the materials. That was much appreciated! Luis and his crew worked tirelessly for about five days straight to complete this job. He was always up front with what was going on and kept us updated throughout the project. We are absolutely amazed at the result. When we moved in a few years ago we thought our garage was a tear down. Now it looks like a brand new garage! We would definitely recommend Luis for any jobs and would love to have him do more work for us in the future!

Tim Jameson has done work for me for several years. One job was painting my house including repairing rotten wood and painting the outside of my house and workshop building. He also did a bathroom project for me which included stripping wallpaper and repair walls and replaced some plumbing and removal of carpet and installation of tile on the floor. He also painted a paneled bedroom walls and trim. He has an excellent eye for color and has been very helpful in determining paint colors for me. He is a perfectionist and pays attention to detail. I will continue to use him for anything I need done around my house. He has a outgoing personality and is a joy to work with.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

    • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
    • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
    • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
    • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
    • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
    • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

    • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
    • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
    • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
    • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
    • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
    • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
    • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
    • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
