About
I've been playing and performing music for most of my life. I started playing guitar 11 years ago, and picked up the bass my freshman year of high school, playing in the school orchestra, rock bands, and a jazz combo. I've been performing in bands ever since, and recently opened my own space at Allied Music, a well-established studio in town. I get to work with likeminded people and share in something we all love: music. There is nothing quite like the feeling of immersion we get when playing and listening to music - it's something you can spend a lifetime exploring. I enjoy sharing my knowledge to help my students develop their own deep appreciation for the meaning music brings to our lives.

Phillip helped my son understand how to read music and still made it fun to learn. He was patient and taught my son the basics and fundamentals to get him started on his music path that has encouraged growth outside his comfort zone.

I would highly recommend Phil as a guitar educator. I am an adult student, and I feel that Phil not only tailors our lessons to my experience (or lack there of!!), but also to my personality. He is thorough to technique, and provides manageable feedback, all while making lessons fun! I always feel prepared for my practices sessions at home, and appreciate the new ground we gain during our time together. I've been taking lessons with Phil for two months, and have already made noticeable progress. I have a better understanding for the instrument than I had ever imagined possible. Phil is also passionate about keeping music accessible, and thriving in Billings. As a member of multiple bands, Phil has critical technical skills and experience to pass along to students. In addition to playing music, Phil helps to organize opportunities for musicians to perform. Because of Phil's experience, passion, and ability to instruct, I strongly recommend him as a guitar educator.

Phil is a really wonderful teacher for any age. I have taken lessons from a couple of other teachers in the past and the way he teaches is by far more effective and clear. He is great with my 8-year-old daughter and keeps her engaged and motivated. You can't go wrong with hiring Phil!

Phil is an excellent teacher! He is patient and professional and also keeps the lesson relaxed. He asked me my goals in the first lesson which helps me feel more engaged in my experience. He’s also understanding if you give notice and need to reschedule.
