Michelle is amazing! She is such a good cook. She buys the food and makes us 4 meals plus a dessert each week and drops it off. We have to do nothing but eat! She's working with us to be more healthy and also delicious! So easy to work with. She'll be giving me cooking lessons soon as well. Highly recommend!!

Michelle has catered several diners for me and my guests. She planned the meals, created the menus, bought the necessary food and paired the wine. These were all multi course meals (up to six courses!). Fresh game was often used. the creative sauces she prepared for each main course were outstanding! Michelle prepared and served these dinners for up to eight guests, providing a brief description of each course before serving. The meals were served hot and on time and the quality was of the highest order. Michelle is an experienced chef and has served as an executive chef at one of the best restaurants in the area. She also teaches others her culinary craft including some of the secrets to success. She has a background in art which is evident in the presentation of her dishes. I would recommended her with out reservation for parties small and large. The assembled group will be in for a real treat!

We worked with Graham when he was cooking Thai food along with Myo Koongnoo. Graham's culinary skills are impressive and wide ranging. What is even better is that he is a very nice and considerate person. We highly recommend him.

Our lovely group of ladies arranged for a private cooking class with Chef Lisa who provided an amazing experience. Each of us have some form of diet restriction or allergy and because of her Detailed skill she was able to put a menu together that accommodated all our needs. Creative organized and professional, we felt she went above and beyond. Our meal was not only delicious but rewarding. We felt a since of accomplishment after putting the meal together. Thank you so much Chef Lisa, you are the best!!!!!!!

Vince Hogan recently held a cooking demonstration in my home for myself and 5 girlfriends. The event was absolutely outstanding. In the days leading up to the demo, Vince communicated openly with me to make sure the menu he planned was suitable for everyone. During the demo, it was clear that Vince was well prepared. He not only planned techniques to demonstrate, he also made sure to incorporate some hands-on techniques (preparation of fish en papillote) as well. The food was amazing! The menu consisted of southwestern empanadas with an avocado cream sauce, a winter salad (literally the best salad I've ever had in my life), and fish en papillote with root vegetables. I was impressed with the overall experience from Mr. Hogan's professionalism to his overall culinary knowledge. It was a very fun evening to eat, drink, and be merry! I highly recommend Vince Hogan and his services.

Cindy is experienced, professional, a great chef, and instructor! Over the past year I have learned how to sear scallops, make incredible pasta dishes and steam a lobster tail to assemble a lobster roll that was so delicious. Cindy is eager to share her knowledge and techniques with her students and clients. There is nothing to worry about if Chef Cindy is hosting your event or cooking party!

I have been a professional chef for the last 20 years, and love food! Growing it, cooking it, sharing it, and teaching about it. My past culinary career has allowed me to cook alongside some of the countries best chefs in some of the best restaurants, including Gramercy Tavern, Bouley, and Blue Hill in New York City. As well as C Restaurant in Vancouver BC, and The Marketplace right here in Asheville NC! Teaching has always been an important part of being chef, and I love sharing my knowledge and getting excited about food! We stand out in this field because I am a farmer and a chef! A lot of what we use in our cooking classes comes form right outside the kitchen! Talk about local food!!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
