Introduction: I believe in your right to get married! I'm passionate about helping couples have a wonderfully beautiful wedding ceremony. I personalize the verbiage for the ceremony to match the couple. I am non-traditional, LGBTQ+, BDSM, and inter-racial/ethnic/religious friendly. There is not enough love in this world! Why should anyone stop those that are in love from becoming a family?? There is NO good reason!
Your wedding ceremony does NOT have to be religious in tone! It doesn't have to have any religion in it at all! I can work with you to make your ceremony just what you want it to be--lovely, romantic, and memorable, just like the rest of your wedding day.
Let’s talk professional wedding officiants and bust a myth while we’re at it.
Myth : Wedding officiants just work 20 minutes, at the wedding.
Truth : Pro officiants like myself spend hours on each ceremony.
Here’s some of what goes into each one:
• Crafting/writing your personal ceremony.
• Editing your custom ceremony.
• Planning the logistics and elements of your ceremony--handfasting,
unity candle, sand pouring, broom jumping, etc..
• Researching + practicing rituals--Jewish, Asian, hippie? I can do it all.
• Guiding you on obtaining the marriage license.
• Providing wedding vows assistance.
• Completing the marriage license paperwork + returning the license to
issuing ROD, if you'd like.
• Holding intentional space to celebrate your LOVE and supporting you.
• Engagingly performing your ceremony on wedding day, with
experience, warmth, care, joy + finesse.
• Continuing and constant education about new laws, requirements,
current trends, etc.
• Answering your questions + emails.
• Travel time to venue + time on location before and after the ceremony.
• Oh, and I’ll be your biggest cheerleader! Need a hankie at the alter?
Check! Need extra time to get your grandma down the aisle? I'll hold
the space. Want to include something that the other side of the aisle
might not understand? I'll do it with grace and empathy, helping both
sides to enjoy your big day.
Tips when hiring your officiant:
• Choose a person who resonates with you.
• Compare apples to apples. Some officiants offer value beyond the
price tag (see above!) Others may actually only put in the 20-30
minutes you see them at the ceremony. If that’s all you want, that’s
absolutely fine, too!
• Your officiant sets the tone for your wedding day, so choose well.
• Book your wedding officiant once you have your venue booked.
• The top wedding officiants book up in advance, just like any great
wedding vendor!
You are paying for professional services when you work with me. I am experienced, can answer or find the answer to just about any question you have about your ceremony. I'm open to all kinds of cultural beliefs, have no judgement about who or what you want to include in your wedding, and have experience with just about anything you can request. I know what makes your ceremony legal and what doesn't. I am physically ordained, so your wedding will be legal AND spiritually, lovingly, and eternally binding.
Your ceremony can be customized to your commitment, religious, or ethnic beliefs. I'll work with you to be sure everything is covered.
I am available for dress rehearsals, elopements, small or large ceremonies. I am willing to work with your venue to make sure your ceremony is exactly as you wish it to be. But, I'm not a wedding coordinator...I am the person who marries you and signs your paperwork.
Please NOTE: If you are looking for someone local to you, I am in Asheville and work in the surrounding areas. I'm happy to drive further than the hour included in the $275 initial cost, but there is an additional travel fee for that.
I am authorized to perform weddings in any state in the union. I'm also fully vaccinated and boosted (as is my family) and will continue to get boosters, as the CDC recommends.
FREE INFO: One requirement to get married in North Carolina is a Marriage License. If you live in NC, you can get your license from any of our 100 counties and it's good anywhere in NC. If you are from out-of-state, you have to get your Marriage License from the county you are getting married in. So google your venue or wedding location's county, then google the county's website and Marriage License, i.e. "Henderson County NC Marriage License." Just about every county has an online application that you fill out prior to going to the courthouse or clerk's office to pick up your license. Cost is usually $30-75 plus a nominal fee for a copy of your Marriage Certificate. You'll need that if you plan to change your last name, get on each other's insurance, bank info, etc.
A bit about me personally: My husband and I just celebrated our 10 year anniversary. He is a teacher and coach who loves to read and watch every kind of sport you can imagine. I am an antiques dealer and wedding officiant, as well as a High Impact Literacy Tutor in public schools, who loves to cook and craft. We have a beautiful daughter who is the light of our lives and has special needs. We all live in Asheville with our rescued dachshund, Macy.
