Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

Gary first fixed two storm doors securely and did so in a reasonable amount of time. Next, Gary attached a small white lattice piece with rails on the end of our porch in West Asheville. He purchased the railing and parts at Home Depot and added a significant surcharge for a spot where the porch drops off on a 1920 Colonial house with red brick and white trim. Although the doors were repaired in a couple of days with intervening time garnering Home Depot credits and marking up more receipts, the porch project dragged on for a couple of weeks and ended up coming in at twice the projected amount. A former contractor and now a licensed inspector who works at a fairly high rate, Gary gets the job done with solid workmanship. Fair work done at at a deliberate yet often easy pace that ending up costing us way more than initially estimated. Although I would probably not hire him again, I believe in the integrity of his work. I'd say if you are patient, don't have too many budgetary restrictions, and are willing to accommodate a somewhat erratic work schedule and are ok with things taking time, you can rely on Gary to get the job done
Gary J. Palmirotto, Inc.'s reply
Quality workmanship does take time! And quotes can change when material type changes. A "time and material" quote (hourly rate plus material plus 10%) was given for pressure treated material and then PVC plastic was actually used. I do not charge time when traveling to pick up material, but I do add a 10% surcharge to the cost of material to cover time spent and "on account billing". I am very happy that quality workmanship and customer satisfaction were achieved without any warranty related problems! Thank you for the opportunity!

Please feel free to contact me directly for an indepth review of this contractor. Mr. Palmirotto recently completed a job of significant size for us; and while the job has been completed satisfactorily, numerous issues arose during construction that every prospective client should be aware of prior to hiring.
Gary J. Palmirotto, Inc.'s reply
This particular project had some initial scheduling problems with framers. We worked long and hard towards completion, and I worked long hours EVERY day. It was completed within 6 weeks instead of the projected 3 weeks, maintaining the utmost quality at completion. Contract was signed on 10/06/14, Permit issued on 11/03/14. Final Inspection on 11/19/14...NOT TOO BAD! And client was ultimately satisfied!

Gary did some wainscoting and trim work in our new home. He spent a lot of time/effort to find the matching wood trim then, did an excellent job installing it. It matches exactly and added a great deal to our home. Can't recommend him enough!
