About this pro
I know what will actually work in a room to give it what it needs. Clients and friends are constantly amazed at things I find that make a room look great, be it accessories or starting from scratch and selecting the paint color, furniture, rugs, type of flooring, space plan, or any kind of significant problem. I like working with people and getting to know what their needs are and solving their problems. It gives me a sense that I have helped someone with my talent. I also love working with colors, textures, shapes, as I am very artistic.
Emily recently did a remarkable job on my home entranceway. She changed the flow of the area, chose new colors, and rearranged furniture. The new design completely updated the room and made the entrance so welcoming!Feb 16, 2014
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I typically charge an hourly rate for design jobs. For staging, it's a little different.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Yes, I went back to school in 2007 and 2008 to take more Interior Design coursework. I learned a lot on codes, points of egress, drafting (again), CAD, and historic interiors. It was great, but I knew so much from working in the industry that I was ahead of most students when starting each course.
- How did you get started doing this type of work? When I was a senior in high school, I won first place for an art print that I entered into a contest. I also took a class on interior design that I loved...that was it...I knew what I wanted to be and made an "A" in the class. I studied it in college and love it!
