FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Being a woman in the handyman line of work, I’m always having to prove myself valuable, even to the women that hire me! My introductory prices are much lower than the industry standard for the level of work I exude. Thumbtack charges the Pros excessive lead fees just for you all to inquire with us regardless if we are chosen for the job or not, so I tend to give very good pricing just from not being able to afford the lead charges without getting chosen for the job. Jobs that I should be charging $300+ I find myself doing for $200. It doesn’t bother me, bc almost everyone turns into a repeat customer when they see the speed, accuracy and skill level in which I work. I include travel in my fees just so there’s no surprise charges on the customers end. I try to stick with flat rates bc I think the per hour thing is weird. Like how are you the customer having to pay more bc the handyman took longer. The price should have been the price regardless of how fast or slow they move. I do flat rates bc I move so fast.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I treat new and old customers the same: with respect, and proper thorough communication. I will always confirm the address, price, the job being performed, time expectations, my ETA the day of, and confirmation the night before.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with a little bit of everyone. No two clients are the same!
