Review - Ed Fagan, DBA Integra Painting & Restoration, integrity The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. "he is known to be a man of integrity" synonyms: honesty, probity, rectitude, honor, good character, principle(s), ethics,morals, righteousness, morality, virtue, decency, fairness,scrupulousness, sincerity, truthfulness, trustworthiness I have no idea if Mr. Fagan, chose the name "Integra" for part of his company's name as a play on the word, integrity; however if he did not, he should have. "A person of integrity", the phrase is an apt description of my impression of Mr. Fagan, as an individual and of his work ethic. The day he arrived to give his quote, he was on time, he listened to what I had to say, asked questions which clearly indicated he was giving careful thought to what the job would entail. When he answered my questions, I never felt as if I was being told what I wanted to hear or that he felt any of my questions were less than intelligent, even though I'm certain some of them very well could have seemed silly to him. Before he left he gave me a fair quote for the work I requested, instead of telling me he would email me or call me back later with his quote as the other painters did. Ed is professional; polite, and respectful in his demeanor without being aloof. On the days we had agreed upon for him to paint my rooms, he arrived on time. Everything about the job he did for me was well thought out/planned for both the best result and the best use of time. I had hired him to paint the walls in one room and the ceiling in another. At the time he gave me his quote, we had discussed the need or lack thereof to paint the ceiling in both rooms and at the time he agreed with me that the ceiling did not really need to be done in the room where he would be painting the walls. However, on the second day when he returned to paint the second coat on my walls, he decided the ceiling would look better if he painted it as well and he did so. He did so, not in order to add an additional charge to his original quote, but simply because how he perceives the quality of his work is as important to him as is my being pleased with the end result. Ed made it clear from the onset of this additional work, he did not require or want more money. Ed did an excellent job. The walls he painted were originally a very dark color and the color I wanted them painted is an exceptionally light color in comparison. There is no sign anywhere or any bleeding through or even a hint of what the previous color may have been. He patched ever tiny mark or hole. The wall color is even and the paint is smooth, no bubbles, drips or obvious brush/roller marks. I have new wood flooring the room he painted and there is no paint spatter whatsoever to be found on the new flooring, or on the baseboards or door and window trims. Some of the furniture pieces are quite heavy but they were moved without marring the flooring in any manner. He put everything he moved back exactly as it was and thoroughly cleaned all signs of dust from the floors and furniture tops created by some sanding he had needed to do. Again, excellent work ethic! I have already asked Ed for a quote to strip wallpaper from another room and to paint it. There is nothing negative I have to say and there are many more good things I could say about Ed, his work ethic and the quality of his work however I believe they can be covered best by simply saying, I will not be seeking any other quotes for the job; there is no need. That job and any future projects I choose to do within his area of expertise are his, if he chooses to accept them. I highly recommend to anyone, seeking quality work, done in a timely manner, at a fair price, that they hire Ed Fagan, Integra Painting and Restoration. As an aside comment, not directly related to the paint job - when Ed came to give me a quote, before he knew he had the job, he noticed that I had a door which had come off of its track. I had repaired the problem with the door. However, from my seated position in my wheelchair, I had been unable to return it to its proper position. It had been my intention to ask a neighbor for help on the coming weekend. But thanks to Ed's kindness I did not have to. Without my asking him to, or even hinting that I needed help, he asked if I'd like for him to place the door back into the track for me. That one act of kindness as much as anything else cinched his getting to job, despite the fact that his quote was not the cheapest. I am very pleased to state, I'm do not regret my decision in the least. I look forward to asking Ed to take on several more projects in the months ahead, this year and the next. It is so wonderful to have found someone I can rely on to do good work, at a reasonable/fair price, who actually enjoys the work he does and is a nice guy as well!

We needed a vaulted ceiling smoothed from a prior bad spackle job, Ed exceeded my expectations and did a fantastic job. He also gave us great advice on the proper paint to use. I will definitely use him again when the need arises.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Know what you are asking for. Most of the dishonest Contractors play on the Customers ignorance. They will feel out your knowledge and shortchange you in the areas where you seem to know the least.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I would love it if they knew that I do this because I fell in love with this trade. This wasn't a trade I learned by default. I sought out this profession and the knowledge that this trade requires.
