FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We normally start with an initial consultation, in person if the customer is within 1 hour from our studio or facetime if the customer is not available in person. Once our bride and groom books us, we will leave a surprise at your door along with instructions for our next few assignments. Assignments include creating a wedding day timeline, going over what shots are most important to you and how to squeeze those shots in day of, getting a full vendor list to be a part of your team, creating a family/friends group portrait list, etc. A month before the wedding, we will definitely check back in and make sure all the details are sorted out. And usually a week in advance, we will finalize everything for the wedding day.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A ton! We have spent countless hours and thousands of dollars to learn the trade. Having a camera doesn't produce awesome photographers; the photographer who knows the skill set and trade makes or breaks the quality of a photo!!! More importantly, we aren't just photographers; we have been educated and trained about all aspects of weddings to know how things run. All of our staff as well as subcontractors have gone through training or are certified accordingly. We are part of national professional photography organizations. In addition, we collaborate, teach, and learn from other professional wedding photographers all over the globe!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was on the other side, a bride. Unfortunately I was did not do my homework and ask the right things to my photographer. The experience was not great, and my wedding photos are less than desirable. Don't get me wrong, the photographer's online portfolio was gorgeous. Now that I am a wedding photographer, I want to pass on my knowledge and expertise without hiding pricing, concerns, etc. I want my brides and grooms to be able to trust me! Even if prospective clients do not book me, I love passing on things to look for when hiring a photographer so they don't go through what I went through.
