Dave and his assistant completed a variety of tasks in my home over the course of 3.5 hours including gutter cleaning, some exterior painting (very meticulous) and also dismantled and removed a piece of workout equipment that was a BEAST! They were considerate in leaving things as they were found and didn't leave until I was completely satisfied.

I enjoyed meeting the sole proprietor JW, and I look forward in working more with him as We learn each other ways... Why he didn’t receive 5-Stars yet is bc of the left over WEEDS, all around My house & especially in the My front rock landscape area. Also after cutting the grass Always Blow off the grass clippings off/away from the tree base where We had just laid fresh black mulch, which is now green There are scrubs trimming still left as well...but just Maybe my request was not as clear as I intended so I will suffer this time. In All things...Thx

I had Alexander and his crew scraped the popcorn off 1800 sqft of ceiling, then they mudded, primed and painted it. They also taped, mudded, and primed 50 sheets of drywall that I put up after removing and adding walls in my house. They did a great job! They gave a reasonable price, showed up everyday on time, and finished on schedule. I would definatly use them again.

Ivan has been painting for my Apartment Community for 2 years now. He is very professional and an on time employee. If Ivan is ask to prep, paint, repair, etc. he has always been available. I do suggest making an appointment but if Ivan is available then you can count on him tending to your needs the same day or with in 24 hours. Ivan takes direction well and is willing to go the extra mile to make sure his work has been completed to his customer(s) satisfaction. I would refer Susan's Painting for your painting and repair needs. Prices are very competitive to other prices that I have came in contact with the 8 years I have been in property Management. Thank you Ivan and Staff. Amanda Santiago Community Manager for Matthew Grande Apartment Homes

We had the exterior of our house painted by Forester Custom Exteriors, and we're completely satisfied. They were fast, thorough, cleaned up after themselves. I would recommend them to anyone.

Edward Norman is very knowledgeable about his work. He breaks down the process for you and makes sure that you know what you are getting. He's also a jack of all trades having been in the industry for years. I totally recommend him for any deck, home, office space painting or home repair that you would need!

Our request for a quote was answered quickly and a visit to see and quote the project was arranged. Alex arrived on time and quoted a reasonable price. We agreed but postponed the actual work as we were leaving town. When we called to schedule the painting he could do it the next day. We added pressure washing of our deck to the rail painting. Two man arrived on schedule, completed the pressure washing and painting in a neat, thorough and professional manner. I could not have asked for more. I can confidently recommend them to anyone reading this post. For the record, this is unbiased and they are not friends, relatives nor was I paid for my recommendation.

Choosing Aspen Painting & Coating was a great decision. They did a beautiful job painting my kitchen cabinets. The old paint was peeling and chipping. Their technique of sanding and spraying made them look like new. They are true professionals, have an excellent work ethic, are very reasonably priced, and they make sure the customer is pleased. I would highly recommend them!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
