I was given an estimate to rebuild a new post on my front porch. They arrived and looked at the job then took off for 2+ hours to get materials. Started to work on the job thinking that the estimate provided was firm to get the job done. Worked for 2 hours before having to leave for the day due to it getting dark. They decided to reuse some of the materials from the old post, which can hinder the strength of the post (especially since it had water damage). The next day, I texted them suggesting for them to pick up some more lumber because I didn’t want reused wood being used. They say that the price can change afterwards and that they miscalculated the estimate for materials and would be a mistake by the company if they don’t change the price. I mentioned that the company should own up to their mistake and finish the job. However, they didn’t show up the next day and left the few materials at my house; only a quarter of the way done with the job.
