Fausto and his team were excellent! They showed up promptly when they said they would and were very thorough. We had them mow our yard, which was quite overgrown after two weeks of no mowing and lots of rain. In addition to mowing, Fausto oversaw his whole crew and ensured that everything met his standards before they left. I highly recommend Fausto and look forward to working with him again in the future.

I hired this service to clear out my very overgrown back yard, which is what happened to my "natural and rustic" yard after 12 trees were taken down for solar panels on my roof. Without all the tree roots, weeds that I refer to as "monkey grass" took over, reaching heights of almost 3 feet . I had also wanted to get the area seeded in lawn in an attempt to control the weeds. This service came in and got all the weeds mowed down in a good size back yard, along with my brick patio. It was explained to me that snce the weeds were so high and dense, any seeding would be smothered by what was just cut, and it would be prudent to let the cuttings die off over the winter and seed in the spring. I appreciated the honesty rather than making a futile attempt seeding a lawn which would not thrive. I plan to use this service in the spring to start a new lawn, which will thrive, and would not hesitate to recommend this service.

We are very pleased with the job Tapps Lawn Care and Landscaping did for us ! Trey was punctual responding to our request to discuss taking out our former front yard flower bed and changing it into a lower maintenance arrangement of azelias and a Japaneze maple. We loved the plants he selected and his assistant, Keith, did a fantastic job of spacing them in the existing garden plot after tilling up the soil. Trey was also concerned about finishing the job in a timely fashion so arranged to come out a day earlier than we had planned to avoid the rain that was forecast. Trey also provided some helpful advice for maintaining the new plants while Keith did a great job spreading pine needles across several beds of established plantings in our front yard. We would not hesitate to call on Tapps Lawn Care and Landscaping the next time we need assistance with any special plans for our yard. These new plantings make a lovely statement and we are sure they will turn many heads! April W.

My entire experience with Stone, Soil and Shrubs has been excellent. I’ve happily contracted lawn service with this company for about ten years. The monthly service plan we have includes all mowing, trimming, all fertilizer and chemical applications, all pruning, and twice yearly seeding as needed. In addition to this, we’ve also retained them to provide a la carte services such as resolving drainage issues, tree removal, hardscaping, sodding, and the planting and transplanting everything from annuals to trees to entire beds. They are reasonably priced for the high level of service they provide and they are responsive to any query or complaint—and those are rare. Most of my immediate neighbors have used them either on contract or for single-service jobs. I have never heard a complaint. It isn’t hard to find someone to mow your lawn. It is very hard to find someone who will treat it like their own, and not take shortcuts.

Michael was available within two days to do the routine maintenance-mowing, trimming and blowing and did a great job. He also picked up most of the sticks and branches in our natural areas without me even asking. I've certainly never had that happen before! His equipment was clean and well cared for which meant a better job. We walked around the yard before he started and talked about what I wanted AND walked around afterwards to discuss what he found and anything that needed more attention (although there was nothing). He was easy to talk to and personable; more than that, he delivered the service he described for an economical price. He does not require a contract, but he will be back as soon as we need him. I definitely recommend him!

FortSmith Lawn & Landscape did an excellent job at a property my husband and I were leasing. Upon the end of our lease, and as part of our move-out duties, the lawn needed: a mow, trim, weed-eat, edging, leaves removal (a lot!), trimmed shrubs and an all-around clean-up look. My husband and I were very pleased with the professional results and hope to hire FortSmith Lawn & Landscape for future services. Thank you FortSmith Landscaping!

Mr. Mitchell was great. I originally asked for just lawn mowing and trim. I asked if he could replace my mailbox in addition I was quoted a fair price and both jobs were completed the next day. My yard looks great and the mailbox is now new! I will definitely call Mr. Mitchell again when I have another project. Great handyman services.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have your lawn mowed?

Regular lawn maintenance can do wonders for your home’s curb appeal. Professional lawn care prices will vary based on the regional cost to do business and regional cost of labor, the size of your lawn, and any additional services you may desire such as edging or mulching. The national average for lawn mowing costs is $30-$50. Pros may charge an hourly rate, a flat rate or by the square foot (an acre contains 43,560 square feet). Square footage rates factor in the professional’s time, the use of their equipment, and the gas to operate the mower. Distance may also affect cost: If you live outside the company’s standard service range, you may pay an additional travel fee. Here are some examples of average prices for mowing and lawn maintenance:

  • Up to 8,000-square-foot property: $30 per week/$120 per month.
    • Bimonthly: $40 per service/$80 per month.
    • One time only: $45 per service.
      • Prices include mowing all turf grass areas; trimming grass away from fences, structures, trees, and lawn edges; and clearing or blowing all grass trimmings from driveways, sidewalks, curbs, etc.
  • Hourly rate: $25 per hour (including travel, equipment costs and labor).
  • Lot size:
    • Smaller lots in subdivisions: $35.
    • Half-acre lot: $50.
    • One-acre lot: $100.
