FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
When you hire a professional, you are not just paying for “a photo“. There are costs of doing business that also needs to be factored in such as taxes, travel, cost of equipment and insurance/props/backgrounds (for studio shots), time editing your photos and creating your gallery. All of my invoices will add tax to your quote. NC requires tax whether we are providing prints or digital downloads. I am willing to work within most budgets, however, I cannot economically justify traveling an hour or more away for any shoot under $250. Your date is not confirmed/secure until the initial deposit is made.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get an idea of your vision and details about the event. Then I send a contract and invoice. I am also available to speak on the phone or by video chat in advance of the contract being signed. During the session, I try to help you feel as comfortable as possible. I prefer to have you act natural so I can capture your true personality but can provide direction and poses as necessary. After the session, I spend time choosing the best photos, editing each one, and then creating a gallery for you to print/share/download as often as you would like. Don’t forget to always credit your photographer when sharing your photos. The photos are still the photographer’s intellectual and copyright property and word of mouth can be one of our biggest source of income.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am mostly self taught and have been photographing families, events, and nature for about 20 years.
