Many people who teach public speaking are not actually skilled at public speaking. I placed in the top 10 percent at Pi Kappa Delta's 2011 national speech and debate tournament. Our debate team took 1st, our speech team took 4th, and both combined took 3rd, beating over 80 universities around the country. Additionally, in 2011, I won the Edward Everett Prize in Oratory at Hillsdale College. As early as 2008, I won first place for a sermon I delivered at the North American Christian Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. While traveling for four years and receiving scholarship for competitive speaking in college, I was responsible for listening to many teammate's speeches and helping them improve their writing and speaking ability. In short, I stand out because I not only have taught others how to speak well, but I also have years of personal speaking experience.
