Mr. Evans installed a few can lights and added a chandelier to our dining room. He was great from start to finish. He was able to come 2 days after we spoke and completed the work in just a number of hours. He cleaned up after himself very well and was pretty quiet considering all the work he was doing. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. In fact we are going to have him come back to install under cabinet lights in our kitchen.

I needed to have the floor of my kitchen sink cabinet replaced. In addition the clamps that held the sink in place were missing which caused the sink to fall, which caused the pipes to leak water.

in 3 words "she got me". I have big and small issues with my house, she listened to my doleances and came up with a plan, quick fixes to take care of some problems and plans for more ambitious projects such as investing in new countertops and repainting bathroom cabinets and walls instead of remodeling the bathroom. the savings will be used for a mudroom i want to create using part of my kitchen. she is also very good at explaining what will benefit the resale value of my home and what is not worth pursuing. I tend to go overboard and many directions. she explained the sequence of improvements i plan to conduct. I intend to continue using her for the next year at least.

Jeff replaced the crown molding in our den and did a beautiful job. He also trimmed in all around our fireplace and turned an old built-in desk into a cabinet area for us. Even though we thought of new things to do many times, Jeff completed everything beautifully. We highly recommend him!

Working with Mark was a pleasure. He is dependable, competent and trustworthy. He helped me bring a 1940's house back to life, after years and years of neglect. Though it was in a sad state of disrepair, he assured me that he could transform it into something that I would feel proud of. Mark has a wide range of skills, he is a true "jack of all trades", so his depth of knowledge on a project of this scope was crucial. He started by removing 12 feet of thick bamboo growth from the back yard, then pressure washed and painted the exterior of the house. He rebuilt the existing windows, which was a very tedious and time-consuming task, and a lost art to boot. In addition, he installed guard rails around a creek on the property, to help decrease my liability as a landlord. He then moved inside the house and painted the walls, installed new vinyl flooring, sanded and refinished the original hard wood floors (they're beautiful!), installed a new bathroom cabinet, faucet and other hardware, replaced several light fixtures, installed new door locks, and new storm doors. Mark works independently and takes pride in his workmanship, so it's important to be considerate of his pace. Since he does not specialize in any one area, it naturally takes longer to organize the necessary equipment and tools than if he were subcontracting various jobs to specialist. Finally, Mark is an excellent communicator, and kept me well-informed of any set backs along the way. He has also worked with me to correct problems that neither of us noticed until the project was completed. Knowing that he stands behind his work is of particular importance, because it's hard to catch everything, even after a "final" inspection. If you are looking for someone who is knowledgeable, personable, trustworthy and fair, look no further, Mark is your man!

At first, I was very hesitant to work with a kitchen designer - I think I was afraid to hand over the keys to someone else. Ellen Brotzman was a lifesaver. When I first contacted her, I got so nervous it was over a year before I contacted her again, but she was always the consummate professional. She worked with me with the floorplan constraints I have and came up with a really novel and effective use of my space. We went back and forth on the design, and since I am a busy professional in Raleigh and she is in Cary, we were able to effectively work out the details with emailing back and forth. I bought custom cherry cabinetry from Ellen, so there was no additional design services fee. She was willing to work with any contractor, but I ended up taking one of her referrals and I could not have been more pleased. Ellen even checked on the progress during an extended vacation I took during the construction - and she caught a construction problem early so we were able to resolve it over the phone instead of coming home to a disappointmnent The result - a truly "wow" kitchen. Somehow within the confines of my less-than-spacious first floor footprint, I now have a bigger house. My kitchenaid mixer now pops out of its own cabinet. I have a very deep cabinet alongside the fridge that holds a ton. I have a "baking area" and a "serving area", even a "drinks area"! Almost a year later (yes, I am bad about getting to writing up reviews), I am still awed by how beautiful and functional my kitchen is. I have had people actually tell me this is the most beautiful kitchen cabinetry they have seen before! I would heartily recommend Ellen Brotzman and her kitchen redesign services. I felt she led me toward good choices, but she also kept "my style" in mind and helped me select not only cabinets but also tiles, a sink, etc. that worked together. She got as excited as I did when we found "just the right sink" on a bargain sale! My fears of having someone else "take over" the project were unfounded - Ellen applied her talents and made an effective partner with me in designing a kitchen I would love, and I am thrilled with the result! I am told also that her services and the cabinets were at a bargain price compared to the same quality elsewhere!
