Our dog, Stella, loves Lynnette and so do we! Lynnette does more than just walk Stella- she really treats her like she was her own pup. I feel so lucky that we have Lynnette. She is prompt, reliable, and great with all pets. I highly recommend Furball Friends for all of your pet care needs- from dog walking and cat sitting to even overnight stays. Thank you Lynnette for all that you do!

We thought we had care lined up for two dogs and cat for our vacation but then we found out two weeks before we Raleigh, that our friends could not keep them after all. I really didn't want to board the dogs because they've never been boarded. I just knew my Winston would hate it and the cost for two dogs was going to be significant. I'm so thankful that pet sitting came to mind. It cost us half of what it would cost to board them and I felt so much better knowing that my animals were safe and happy in their own beds. Both Cindy and the Jess, the Pet Sitter who'd be doing the visits, came by to meet us and the animals the weekend before we left. I instantly liked Jess and was very pleased to have daily reports from here about each visit. They were clearly very professional and showed they took their business seriously; yet they demonstrated the personal connection and touch you want for your pets.

Teachers Pets was very quick to respond to our request for services. They talked with us about our animals and helped us chose the perfect sitter based on our animals’ personalities. Our sitter sent us great updates assuring us all was well with our home and fur babies. Our house was left in perfect condition, just how we left it. All services were provided punctually assuring our pets were not having to hold it or be by themselves for too long. Paying was also easy! The entire process was positive and easy going. We definitely would recommend Teachers Pets!

About

I will come and visit, feed, and clean up after your dogs or cats. I am a cat person, but I also love dogs. I will follow your instructions with respect to feeding and watering, letting outside or walking on a leash or, in the case of house-only cats, changing/cleaning the litter box. I can spend an hour or so with your pets, or longer if you are anxious. I can check them morning and night. I use a cane, so the walks would probably only be 15 minutes or so. I am loved by animals and people alike. I have a calming nature, and most cats and dogs love me.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
