Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I feel that I have a fair price compared to most renovators. I do have acccess to a architech that i can use to do rendition drawings as well as certified drawings. i have a team that i have used for several years and all of us are very close and work well together. All persons have a designated task or job so no real standing around occuring.. This is a part time job for me, and I have a passion of fixing things and constructing things for people. Its nice to finish projects for people and see their reaction of their dream being completed. I have added an Architect to my team to provide structural drawings and he does a great job doing same. He is very cost effective to me and my clients. Only use him when there is a need and so not all projects require them.

known this fella for quite some time and used him for many types of projects. he is quite skilled in a variety of areas, but his attention to detail sets him apart from many other contractors. he maintains a strong work ethic and a keen eye for troubleshooting . Not only makes sure your job is to your specifications...but that they also meet his. Your investment in Mr, Fussell will be money well spent .

Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

We hired Joshua Fussell on January 9th, 2016 and he started on Thursday, January 14th. My husband and I built a loft in an outbuilding separate from our house and started hanging the drywall. We completed about 75% of the drywall when our busy season with work hit us hard and that prompted us to hire somebody else to finish hanging the drywall and to complete the job of taping, mudding, texturing and then priming everything. Josh was very professional at first. Our main concern was the time frame and we voiced several times that we didn't want to hire the kind of person that would make a job like this drag on forever. He informed us that the job would be finished the first week of March and he was very firm about the fact that he wound not need to texture the walls/ceiling because his drywall skills were flawless. For the remainder of January, he would show up within 2-3 hours of the time that he assured us on the days that he said he would be there. We asked Josh if he knew of any professionals that he could recommend for installing a garage lift and 2 heavy duty (900 CFM) shop fans. He told us that he could easily do those jobs for us and he quoted us separately for each of those jobs and said he would incorporate them into the drywall job as he went. Starting the first week of February, we noticed that Josh was starting to not show up as much due to his wife having to work, snow on the ground, sick baby, etc...He would call my husband at 9:00 at night and ask him if he could go over and turn on the 2 big space heaters in the loft and let them run all night long because when he arrived in the morning, he would want the mud to be really soft. Against my complaints, my husband would go over and turn them on and I would be worried sick about a fire and then the next day, Josh wouldn't ever show up for work. He not only had me frantic, he ran up our power bill and this happened on a couple of occasions but he would just give another random excuse as to why he never showed. Around mid March, Josh all of the sudden started coming every day, and on weekends, anxious to wrap up the job. He installed the 2 shop fans into the walls and he installed the garage lift. The beginning of the 3rd week of March, Josh started sanding the walls and preparing them to be primed. He was leaving out of state for his annual family vacation and wanted to be paid before he left. When we came out to inspect his work, we mistakenly handed him a check as we started to walk towards the outbuilding to check everything out. He stopped us and said that we couldn't go up yet because he had just sprayed primer on everything and the air was too thick with it. He told us that he did notice a "few spots" that needed extra attention but he would get back to them immediately upon returning from his vacation. We said that we were going to go take the dogs on a quick walk and that we would be back in 30 minutes to inspect everything with him. When we returned, Josh was gone. He had already been to our bank and cashed our check before we even came back from our walk. We went into the outbuilding and up to the loft and our jaws dropped! There were gaping holes in the drywall, none of the seams were sealed, there were huge chunks of mud that he just primed over and never sanded down. To make matters even worse, when we turned on one fan, all of the sudden, we saw it blow a bunch of dust out of the other fan. We quickly shut it off and turned on the other fan and not only did it suck in but it blew out of the other one as well and it was installed in a way that it was rubbing metal on metal and made a horrible grinding noise. I literally sat on a paint bucket and cried. The week that Josh returned from vacation, we spoke to him and he explained that he knew about the holes and seams and knew that he was going to have to come back and re-do those. He told us that he installed both fans on one circuit and he as thought about it, he realized that when you turned on one, it was sucking in that fan and blowing out the other and vice versa and that when you turned on both fans at the same, they both slowed way down and only ran at half power each and when they run at half power, it's not strong enough to suck the air from either fan so they would both definitely have to be re-done and he would get right on those. We were leaving for Spring Break out of the country and the night before we were leaving, Josh sent my husband a text at 11:00pm asking him to go over to the loft and to go ahead and circle everything in pencil- all of the spots/holes/concerns/problem areas and he would come over and work on it all while we were away so even though it was late, there was my husband going over there at midnight when we had to catch a flight at 6:00 am. so that he could do exactly what Josh asked him to do because Josh was going to get everything taken care of while we were gone and it would be just like new once we got back. We arrived home 10 days later, we went up to the loft and realized Josh hadn't shown up at all. NOT ONCE IN 10 WHOLE DAYS! We text him and he wrote back that he, his wife and their kid all had the flu while we were gone and that they were just passing it back and forth the entire 10 days but he swore he would work all of the upcoming week and all of the week after that to correct the walls and fans. He never showed. We kept calling and texting, complaining that not showing up for over a month (it was now mid-April and had been over 30 days) was beyond ridiculous and unprofessional and that he had already been paid in full for an uncompleted job. He explained that he was in the process of applying for a supervisor position at work and that he needed all of that extra time to prepare for his presentation but he promised that he would get us all finished and he apologized for the delay (Excuses!). He said that he would be there on Sunday, April 17th at noon and would come work all day. Once again, in true Josh form, noon passed, 1pm passed, 2pm passed and he finally showed up a little before 3:00 pm. I personally waited for him because I wanted to talk to him and point out things, get on the same page and make sure that we were seeing the same holes, the same tape peeling up, etc... Josh was extremely disrespectful, just pretended to be sanding the walls and as I would talk or ask a question, he would say, "OK!" over and over again in a defiant manner and would not make any eye contact and would not look at what part of the wall I was talking about. Once I left, he didn't even stay an hour before he was gone. He told us that he would come back later in the week to fix the fans. At this point, I had had it. I filed a claim against Josh Fussell on Thumbtack.com and it was passed on to their integrity team. Their legal team has called me for recorded interviews and they have all of the photos of his shoddy work. We have since had to hire certified professionals to actually undo and then fix all of the work that Josh did and it has cost WAY more than the $2600+ that we paid Josh. I have filed a full police report for Theft of Services with our Sheriffs department and I am going to take Josh to Small Claims Court. The money that I paid him, the additional fees to have everything fixed properly and the court filing fees will all be included in my filing with Small Claims Court. If the judge decides to award full my dollar amount, this crime will actually be considered a felony in the state of NC.
JF Renovations and Remodeling's reply
Angie, I am truly sorry that you were not please with your project. In the construction industry there are some circumstances that make the project take longer than projected. It is not my workmanship to leave a customer unfinished, and for the unforeseen circumstances that arise both through nature and personally. I hope your business is going well, and wish you well in the future.

Wow, wow, wow! Where has Joshua been for all the years I've could've used solid, sound, detailed attentive work to detail! I will no longer seek anyone else for assistance unless it's a job he can't perform. He blew in insulation I'm my attack to 29" deep, replaced my dryer vent that was crazy high at the top of my house and reinstalled my privacy gate fences to open and close evenly. Let me tell you and believe me, he is a class act. After being overcharged with horrible results in the past, I was very hesitant to hire anyone, but upon introduction and seeing his professionalism I went through with it and gave it a try. He will be my first call hands down moving forth! Awesome work, awesome person, extreme professionalism!
