- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I generally charge $25 per 30 min. lesson. It’s actually, 32 half hour lessons over the 9 months of the Sept-May school year, at 9 monthly $100 installments. Basically $100 a month. I also teach a Summer Session; 12 lessons between June-August; also $100 per month per student. There are breaks throughout the year, take mostly coincide with our school system’s breaks. Almost all my students take 30 min. lessons, rather than 45 mins. Currently 1 does take 1 hr lessons, though.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I generally will talk with the client on the phone to see what their goals are and tell them a little bit about myself, my education, experience, and teaching philosophy. Sometimes I do this in person as well. It just depends on the situation and what time allows.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My BA degree is in concert piano from Wesleyan. I've been the Director of Music at 3 consecutive churches over the past 13 1/2 yrs. I am a gigging freelance jazz pianist and frequently play at Wilderness Ridge Restaurant, Francie & Finch Bookstore, among a number of other venues in the Lincoln & Omaha area. I have been teaching for approx. 20 yrs.
