Biography Robert Brutus, a renowned classical guitarist, was born in the vibrant and culturally rich Caribbean. His journey into the world of music began at the age of 14, influenced by the captivating sounds of two uncles who were avid guitar enthusiasts. Their passion for music ignited a spark in young Robert, leading him to pick up the guitar and explore its melodic depths. With a natural affinity for music, Robert's teenage years were filled with hours of practice and exploration, as he immersed himself in the world of classical guitar. His dedication and talent quickly set him apart, and he became known for his expressive playing style and intricate compositions. After completing high school, Robert moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he pursued a college education. During this time, he continued to hone his musical skills, participating in various performances and collaborating with fellow musicians. His time in college not only enriched his musical knowledge but also exposed him to diverse influences that would later shape his unique approach to classical guitar. Upon graduation, Robert embarked on a successful career in computer software engineering. Despite the demands of his professional life, he never lost sight of his true passion – music. Balancing work and family life, Robert always found time to play his guitar, often serenading his wife and four daughters with beautiful melodies. In 2020, after a fulfilling career in software engineering, Robert retired to focus entirely on his first love – teaching classical guitar. He deeply desired to share his knowledge and inspire the next generation of musicians, so he began offering lessons from his home studio in Plattsmouth Nebraska. His approach to teaching is characterized by patience, encouragement, and a commitment to nurturing each student's unique musical voice. Robert Brutus' legacy extends beyond his immediate family, as he is a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren. His passion for music and dedication to family have created a harmonious balance in his life, and he cherishes every moment spent with his loved ones. Musical Philosophy Robert believes that music is a universal language that transcends boundaries and connects people on a profound level. His teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of expressing emotions through music and finding joy in the journey of learning. He encourages his students to explore various styles and techniques, fostering a sense of curiosity and creativity. Hobbies and Interests When not teaching or playing the guitar, Robert enjoys entertaining his grandkids, reading about music history, and spending quality time with his family. He is also passionate about contributing to the local music community, often participating in events and workshops that promote classical guitar education. Robert Brutus is a shining example of how passion, dedication, and love for music can shape a fulfilling and rewarding life. His journey from the Caribbean to Lincoln, Nebraska, is a testament to the power of music in transforming lives and inspiring others to pursue their dreams.See more

Sophie S. says, "Tristan is an absolute joy to work with, and I can't recommend him highly enough for his professionalism, attitude, energy, and of course, the music he makes. Professionalism: Tristan is a prompt communicator who listened attentively to our ideas. Not only did he learn the initial music we had in mind, but he also researched similar music at our request and made suggestions that led to an even more beautiful final piece for our wedding ceremony. He collaborated seamlessly with the other musician we hired, and even though they didn't know each other it sounded as if they'd been performing together for years! He communicated clearly and promptly with our DJ, who has since reached out to tell us he would like to work with Tristan again (and we see why!). Attitude and energy: Tristan is an upbeat, gentle and kind young man with a positive approach to problem-solving. We had a few technical concerns and last-minute tech hiccups on the day of our wedding, and Tristan rolled with the punches so that no one could tell. The product (that music!): Tristan's guitar-playing skills are exquisite. His attention to detail shines most in his music; even in a large outdoor space, he played with intricate finger work and dynamics that made his songs float through the space. His playing is emotional, thanks in part to his expertise in choosing pieces that are moving and meaningful, as well as his ability to connect to the music and play with intention. Tristan didn't just play the music for our ceremony - his creative and collaborative spirit enhanced the entire feel of the day and made it even more magic for us. Thank you, Tristan!!"See more

Caleb S. says, "I have been playing guitar lightly on and off for 30 years. I have been around guitar enough to somewhat discern talent and skill. When I decided I wanted to start over and learn classical guitar from a professional teacher I went hunting for a great teacher. Before starting lessons with Peter I met with a couple other guitar teachers and gauged them against others I have known. I chose Peter because I found him to be everything I was looking for. Peter is smart. He is both a highly skilled player and a talented teacher. He is dedicated to teaching guitar vs teachers who don’t primarily play guitar or teachers who don’t have any training in guitar pedagogy. Peter is a great communicator in general, which has helped us navigate my complicated schedule and tailor my instruction to my needs and interests. Peter seems to be flexible and realistic with the curriculum he devised for me and the goals we set. Peter has a great personality for teaching. In the journey of developing guitar skill, I think he is a great guide. He knows the art, he knows how to teach it, he knows how to do hard things, how to overcome challenges, and he has a deep trove of experiences to draw from in lessons. My lessons with him have been fun, helpful, and well structured. For the kind of guitar playing I am interested in, my search is over, Peter is a great teacher."See more
