Molding or baseboards,
Although Simon possesses tools, he simply does not know how to use them and works at a glacial pace. He is not a professional and needs more experience to be an efficient and/or effective handyman. Extremely disappointed in his attitude and work.Sep 28, 2018VerifiedSimon Serves's reply
[In light of these comments, please see my prior reviews to discern my work ethic.] Some context: Two months ago, I provided this customer with a spreadsheet detailing estimated time and costs for work on his rental property. A month later—well after the planned completion date—he requested my help, blaming the delays on the several unsatisfactory workers he had hired since my initial estimate. I spent 11 hours working on the project, where I trimmed and rehung a well-painted old door so as to close properly, applied a room’s crown molding, repaired a large section of kitchen tile, installed a cabinet into a brick wall, cut and applied trim to an existing bathroom, and installed an electrical outlet. A month after agreeing to terminate the project, this review comes in today. The customer was verbally abusive throughout the duration of the project, and continued to be so after, via text. As a professional, I stand by the valuable service I offer to my customers, and the fact that I provide the same standard of quality workmanship I would expect in my own home.
Simon responded quickly and came 100% prepared to tackle the jobs. We our listing our house soon and needed a handful of different things repaired/touched up. Simon moved through a variety of small projects with great attention to detail and quality including repairing drywall, re-texturing and painting the ceiling and walls, caulked counters and stairway and repaired a can light all in one visit. He even noticed some things I missed and took care of them for me. He was willing to help with a variety of small jobs which is not always easy to find in a handyman/contractor. Also just a genuinely kind and enjoyable person to work with. I highly recommend him and will use him exclusively for any home repairs in the future.Apr 25, 2020VerifiedSimon Serves's reply
I felt so trusted and empowered to help, to be effective, to give your home the shine that it needs for the imminent listing. I believe that you both may take a large portion of the credit for the great results!
Not only did he do a fabulous job, he was a pleasure to meet. Now I have a new go to handyman, AND a new friend!Jun 12, 2020VerifiedSimon Serves's reply
You made it a very enjoyable environment in which to work and focus most effectively on your TV hanging project, Jerry. And now I’m more educated on the value of the Container Store!
Simon did an amazing job for me! Was great to work with!Jun 25, 2020VerifiedSimon Serves's reply
Thanks, Julie! It was good to work on your challenging art hanging, and to find the ideal hardware to work in plaster over brick. It’ll be a fun surprise for your son!
I needed to patch my ceiling after a water leak was repaired. He was quick, efficient, helpful and a good listener, so he knew what I wanted. I would hire again without hesitation.Jul 14, 2020VerifiedSimon Serves's reply
I’m grateful you made it easier to find the cleanest, neatest, and therefore quickest solution for the hole, Dana, by leaving me the pre-textured pieces removed during the investigation. Thanks for the review!

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? The minimum Charge is $100. If more than 1.5 hours I charge per hour, unless we agree on a flat fee. If transit is more than 30 miles each way I ask for a $50 supplement. Thank you for your understanding!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? It's no different than repeat business, and with just as much gratitude for your trust and confidence in my abilities in my eyes and handshake!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I was a design engineer for 20 years, and have that analytical mindset. I'm also a creative and you can use me as an idea generator! Further, I've had 7 properties over 20 years and 3 rentals, and have almost all the tools one would ever need. (smile.) Other than carpet, concrete, and roofing, I've done all the work myself.
