My intent was only to hire Kenneth for interior painting. I had planned on sub contracting the rest of my kitchen construction and remodel. To my surprise, Kenneth offered to do it all! He was a one stop shop. He and his team painted my walls, cabinets and woodwork, installed a backsplash, built a fireplace surround, installed my wood floors and turned my 1990's home into a sleek, modern look. It's beautiful! I appreciated Kenneth and his team's work ethic and drive to ensure my satisfaction. His prices are affordable as well. I'm looking forward to working on my next project with Daniel R&C!

Roy and the gentlemen he works with, Sean and Tyler, are great people to work with first and foremost. They are extremely professional, perfectionists and their work shows their integrity. They listen, make great suggestions and are willing to go the extra mile. We were building our home were working with a few unruly contractors that weren't living up to what they promised and were falling way behind. One night we Googled contractors and ran across Thumbtack and Royal Home Renovations. We reached out to Roy who came out the next day to look at our project. I had estimates within days and he and his crew started on our home almost immediately knowing the timeline we were under. They had a full workload but again, they made sure that we were treated like a priority. He also has a great network with other contractors which shows his work ethic and personality. Here is the list of work they accomplished on our home: Trim, Molding and Baseboard Hung Doors, Door Fixtures Including A Sliding Barn Door and Pocket Doors Acacia Wood Floor Brazilian Matte Porcelain Floor Carpet Marble and Concrete Zero Entry Shower Closet Shelving Bathroom Mirrors Stacked Stone Around Kitchen Island Shiplap On Fireplace Wall Tile Backsplash In Kitchen Custom Backsplash In Wet Bar 3D Marble Accent Wall Exterior Siding Epoxy Garage Floor I have attached a few pictures of the work that was done on our home by Royal Home Renovations. I was limited to the amount of pictures I could attach, wish I could add more pictures of their work. Roy, Sean and Tyler definitely came to our rescue and we will be forever grateful.

Aaron replaced the wax rings on two toilets, a leaky valve, and a kitchen faucet. Aaron showed up on time and did an excellent job fixing each of the items. Aaron showed great patience while removing the old faucet in the kitchen. The hardware on the existing faucet was very difficult to get to because of the tight space between the sink and cabinet wall. Aaron kept to the task and removed it with no problem. He installed the new faucet in no time at all and it works great. I have had no issues with the other three items that he fixed. I went with Aaron for two reasons. His pricing beat most if not all of his competitors, and he had excellent reviews. Aaron did not disappoint. He was professional and courteous the entire time that he was in my home and he was very knowledgeable with the tools of the trade. Most impressive, he turned down a different job that I asked him to bid because it was out of his realm of comfort. I really appreciated his honesty. You know you have found someone good when you refer him to your friends and family. I have already referred two of my co-workers to Aaron. He does that good of work.

I hired Luigi to paint 2 bathrooms and our kitchen. Unlike every other contractor I've ever hired, Luigi was on time and completed the job when he said he would. He did a very good job and the bathrooms and kitchen look great. I highly recommend Luigi.

RE: farmhouse kithchen Love the new kitchen, very happy with the way it turned out. I know how much of a challenge it is working in this old house, nothing plumb or square creates quite a challenge when installing cabinets and such. The new tile on the floor and backsplash turned out great. Real happy, would highly recommend.

We had gotten a bid from a contractor that was pretty high. The work we were asking of this contractor was not worth his bid. We asked Shaun to place a bid. He came right in our budget and his work is amazing. He put wood floors in, gutted and re did out bathroom. The tile work is above and beyond my imagination and we are so happy. He was friendly and punctual every day and completed the work in a timely manner. He was very precise and paid attention to detail. He made sure we were 100% happy with the job before moving on to the next job. He made us feel like our house was his number 1 priority. If we need work done again, he will be the one we call.

I was very impressed with my overal experience with Paladin Exteriors. I posted to have a chandelier hung in my dining room and ended up getting quite a few item checked off of my"honey do" list. Within minutes of posting on Thumbtack, I was contacted by Sarah. We scheduled an appointment with her and her business partner, Nick, to look at the light the next day. Their team of three workers and Nick all showed the next day which was Saturday. Not that it takes four people to hang a light, but they also fixed two kitchen cabinet doors, they cleaned my gutters and fixed a leaking roof vent that was creating water spots on my living room ceiling, and they replaced 3 sets of halogen lights in kitchen soffits . They fixed a botched gutter job that someone else had left incomplete; it required folding and replacing tin. They also came up with a creative alternative to using a chain to hang my chandelier. Amazingly, they would have come back on Sunday if that was what it would take to get all the things done that suddenly showed up on my list. It is not an exageration to say that these young professionals are ready to take on a wide variety of jobs....I would definitely hire again.

We needed an interior painter for our entry way, living room, kitchen, hallway, bathroom and ceilings. There were some tough areas and we needed a pro to fix some drywall cracks and paint. Tim was nice enough to work with our schedules completely. He came over to provide a quote with 8 hours notice and was very thorough. We also wanted the job worked on and completed while we were out on vacation so they worked through the weekend to finish it up. We came home to a freshly painted house and we love it. They did an amazing job. We have other upcoming home projects that we will be using Jim's Construction and Remodeling.

Stennis construction provides great service, they are efficient and reasonably priced. They were very professional while installing my new bathroom and ceramic tile floor in my kitchen and they also restored my flowers that one of the workers stepped on. I will use them again for my home improvement needs.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

    • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
      • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
    • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
    • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install tile?

Tile installation costs vary widely depending on the tiles you choose, where you want them installed, and what kind of demolition and surface preparation you need to have done. The national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The more tiles that need to be cut by hand and laid on the surface, the higher the total cost. Tile installation professionals can handle many different types of stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, applying them in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and entranceways. They can create anything from artistic mosaic backsplashes in your kitchen to modern shower enclosures to rustic patios in your backyard. Tile installation professions often can remove existing flooring or old tiles and replace drywall. Tile prices range from $1 to more than $50 per square foot — handmade ones are even priced individually — depending on the material. Rustic, handmade or special-use tiles cost more to install because they must be applied to the surface one by one, rather than in a sheet. For most jobs, tile installation costs are based on the square footage of the project. For example, a standard 6-foot by 8-foot shower tile installation can average $1,200-$1,600, depending on whether the tiles go to the top of the shower or to the ceiling. The total cost of a tiling project also includes the grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps, and tile mounting materials like backer board.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
