FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are a few different ways to price window cleaning, but I charge by the window, the window size, window accessibility, whether or not the customer wants an interior and exterior clean or just an exterior clean, and whether or not this would be a first time visit. Most window cleaners charge a bit extra during their first visit if the windows are exceptionally dirty, or have not been cleaned for some time. If a customer hires me for scheduled to return service I will provide a discount on all visits thereafter as a way to say, thank you for their confidence in my work.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I work with a new customer, I like to do a site visit to provide a solid quote to take a look at everything that needs to be done. I cannot use ladders, so I do all of my cleaning at the ground level. I prefer a site visit so I can take a look at their property to see if I’ll be able to reach everything with pole work. If I cannot reach all the windows, I will tell the customer and offer the choice of cleaning all the windows that I can reach at a lower price or referring them to another contractor to take care of the job. If I am hired, I discuss the details of the project and schedule a day once the day is set. I contact the new customer the day before to confirm the appointment and I arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the agreed start time to get checked in and get everything together to begin work. I do a closer inspect to check for any damage prior to start so I can notify the customer. While I’m working through the project I invite the customer to do periodic inspections to see if there is anything that needs to be redone. Once the work is complete, I request that the customer does a final inspection so I can make corrections before I leave as I would prefer to address these issues prior to departure.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I do not have any specialized training for window washing as I am self-taught. I am constantly learning the trade through videos, articles and books that I buy about business structures, window, cleaning techniques and tools and window pricing.
