FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There is only one pricing system I have in place. That is $75.00 initial consultation and $25.00 per hour for every hour worked forward plus 56 cents a mile for travel time. If a client wants me to provide a contractor, electrician and plumber I will only pass on their costs to me and charge for the hours I have spent in negotiations with contractors and in the case of doing general contracting work will charge for hours spent working on the project. In this case I would work up a total estimate for work that is all inclusive.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely! Whenever there are any interesting design, painting, furniture seminars that come up I attend. They can be lectures on paint styles and colors to furnishings, fabrics and flooring. I'm a big fan of cork flooring to combine with hardwood transitioning from room to room. I also am interesting in keeping up with environmentally friendly products and barrier free living designs.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was a flight attendant for 33 years but after having so much fun after flying for a year I thought I should get a "real job". Not that being a flight attendant is not a real job it's a really hard job but in 1970 flying was different then today. That's when I decided to commute to New York from Boston and went to the NY School of Interior Design to learn how to do this creative fun thing I never knew how to do. It was being so confused when I got my first apartment as to what to do with it that got me interested in the field of design. I had always been artistic and loved working with people so this was the perfect fit! I was able to fly and have a freelance interior design business at the same time and had the great opportunity of checking out different styles of design in all parts of the world.
